Strategy and Operations Associate
You will support the Office of the COO by turning ambiguous problems into clear answers, building financial models and decision-ready outputs, conducting market and competitive research, and preparing executive-quality materials. You will scope and run strategic and operational projects end-to-end, coordinate inputs across functions, attend meetings on behalf of the COO, and drive open actions to closure. You will routinely present findings, explain models in plain language, and maintain high quality and confidentiality in all deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Build financial models scenario analyses and unit economics views to support decision-making
- Pressure-test business cases vendor proposals and internal investment requests
- Translate complex data into decision-ready outputs
- Conduct primary and secondary research on competitors partners market structure and regulatory developments
- Synthesize industry intelligence into actionable briefs
- Maintain a structured view of the competitive landscape
- Scope and execute discrete strategic and operational projects
- Drive projects from blank page to executive recommendation
- Coordinate with Operations Finance Legal Compliance and Technology to gather inputs and pressure-test conclusions
- Prepare board-quality decks briefing notes and memos
- Support investor updates board materials and external presentations
- Attend meetings and deliver clear structured readouts and recommendations
- Track open commitments decisions and actions and drive them to closure
- Surface emerging issues and opportunities
Requirements
- 3–6 years post-undergrad or 1–4 years post-MBA experience in investment banking management consulting corporate development or a similar analytical environment
- Demonstrated ability to scope and deliver against broad mandates with limited supervision
- Strong financial modelling and data analysis skills (advanced Excel; SQL or Python a plus)
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to produce executive-quality decks
- Excellent written and oral communication and comfort presenting to senior leadership
- Strong research instincts and ability to triangulate source data
- Operational maturity to handle confidential and time-sensitive work without supervision
- Adaptability and pace to operate in a fast-evolving role
- Nice to have: familiarity with Canadian financial services digital assets payments or capital markets
- Nice to have: exposure to regulated environments such as banking custody securities or insurance
- Nice to have: CFA CPA or equivalent in progress or completed
