Role description:
This role is part of Arcadis’ Global Excellence Centre (GEC) and will join our 3,000+ talented individuals working in India, Romania, and Philippines, in partnership with Arcadis’ offices globally. The GEC brings key capabilities and capacity to support our clients seamlessly around the world. Role accountabilities:
- Apply Arcadis Health and Safety Principles during the delivery of work.
- Perform a role following the Arcadis behavioural framework.
- Manage the delivery of elements of projects under Arcadis management systems to meet the time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets.
- Work to ensure maximum performance and proactively work with the team members in Arcadis GECs, other Arcadis regions and Arcadis clients.
- Promote the culture of the business.
- Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution.
- Work effectively with team members in Arcadis GECs and other Arcadis offices per agreed project working arrangements.
- Plan assigned work and allocate work to ensure timely delivery and effective utilisation of resources.
- Monitor the performance of junior team members identifying and ensuring resolution of any issues.
- Work with an experienced engineer to perform specific elements of a broader assignment.
- Guide and provide technical advice to junior team members and support them in their delivery and their professional development.
- Operate as an experienced, competent professional in a single area of work with minimal supervision.
- Have limited autonomy by being able to make decisions within the scope of their role.
- Work on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and increasingly complex tasks and prepare significant elements of technical design, models and reports – all with limited supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Build understanding of the design of multiple elements of a project.
- Carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions.
- Proposed approaches to solving new problems encountered.
- Develop effective working relationships with other disciplines and senior staff in Arcadis GECs and other Arcadis offices to ensure that there is effective communication of progress and changes, as well as the resolution of issues.
- Undertake verification checking of simple elements of work.
- Check and verify that quality requirements have been achieved following Arcadis systems.
- Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Identify necessary changes to delivery requirements, raise these with Task Managers and assist in their resolution.
- Contribute to the development of budgets for smaller portions of work within their competency as required.
- Combine project related experiences with targeted learning and development to complete the development needs identified in their development plan.
- Commit to receiving on-the-job technical training by performing tasks under the direct supervision of more experienced staff within well-defined limits.
- Actively participate in Arcadis knowledge sharing activities.
- Prepare a development plan with your line manager during the Professional Development Review and Grow, Perform, Succeed processes and take ownership of achieving the goals identified within this plan.
- Comply with Arcadis General Business Principles and Specific Anti Corruption Standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Possess a license in Civil Engineering.
- Possess a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree. A Masters degree is an advantage.
- Working towards Charterships with International Institutes in regions such as the UK, US, Canada or Australia is an advantage.
- Have a minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in structural engineering
- Have experience working in a design consultancy firm
- Proficient in using engineering software like: ETABS, SPACEGASS, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, RISA, Robot, TEDDS, Tekla Structures, or SCIA.
- Knowledge in Revit, Revizto or Navisworks is an advantage.
- Proficient in the application of international design standards: Australia, US, Canada, UK&I, and European experience is an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations.
- Ability to contribute to the team’s digital initiative and automation of processes.
- Excellent organisational skills and has a proactive approach to task management.
- Programming knowledge using C++, Python, Dynamo is an advantage.
