Our team is seeking a motivated and skilled undergraduate student to join us in a part-time role, working 20-25 hours per week in the IT Department.

Purpose

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences needs a student associate to assist with every day office duties in the summer. Must be a University of Texas student and eligible for employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Network patching cables and ports log modifications in database.

  • Physically set up and move computers, as well as configure and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.

  • Prepare computers for salvage, including data removal and secure disposal of sensitive information.

  • Organize and maintain lab equipment and peripherals, ensuring that all items are in proper working order and stored safely.

  • Order supplies and equipment as needed, working within budget constraints and ensuring that all purchases align with departmental guidelines.

  • Assist in the management of inventory, tracking the status of equipment and ensuring that all items are accounted for.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to established safety protocols and guidelines.

  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in a relevant field of study.

  • Minimum basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with Work-Study program requirements and guidelines.

Salary Range

$19/hour

Working Conditions

  • Position is in-person.

  • Works in standard office conditions.

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

  • Typical Office Environment.

  • Use of manual dexterity.
