Job Summary
Support primary school children in a student care environment by guiding homework, managing routines, encouraging positive behaviour, and communicating with parents to foster a safe and engaging learning space.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide primary school children in completing daily homework, spelling practice, assessment work, and academic tasks to support their learning progress
- Manage classroom behaviour by maintaining order, setting clear expectations, and encouraging positive conduct among students
- Observe children’s learning, behaviour, emotions, and social interactions to provide positive encouragement aligned with the CAPOR Framework
- Support children with different learning needs, behaviour patterns, and levels of independence through tailored engagement and supervision
- Facilitate simple learning activities, group activities, and daily centre routines to create an engaging and structured environment
- Communicate routine updates effectively to parents, guardians, co-workers, and supervisors to ensure consistent care and information sharing
- Apply basic knowledge of child development, child safety, supervision, and duty of care to maintain a safe and supportive student care setting
Required competencies and certifications
- Minimum Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Certifications or short courses aligned with SkillsFuture frameworks, such as student development, child safety, classroom management, or positive behaviour support
- Experience supervising or engaging primary school children
- Experience communicating with parents or guardians on routine matters
- Exposure to homework guidance, classroom supervision, student routines, or activity facilitation
- Fresh graduates or candidates with strong interest in working with children
