Student Chemical and Process Engineer

Curious about a career in engineering consulting?

At Aurecon, we believe the world needs people who can engineer possibilities—curious, determined problem solvers who turn complexity into clarity.

Our paid 12-week summer Internship Program gives you real exposure to technical and advisory work, structured development, and direct access to experts across our business. You'll contribute to real projects while gaining practical experience in a leading engineering consultancy.

We have opportunities in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and Ōtautahi Christchurch for students currently studying Chemical or Process Engineering who want to learn, grow, and explore a career in consultancy.

Bring your ideas to life in either our Energy & Industrial team, supporting industries such as dairy, manufacturing, fuel infrastructure, and renewable energy, or our Land & Water team, helping deliver water and wastewater treatment solutions that support sustainable communities. Depending on your placement and interests, you'll gain exposure to different projects, technical challenges, and career pathways. To learn more about our teams, please refer to our Teams & Degree Map.

Recognised by Prosple as one of New Zealand’s 2026 Top 100 Graduate Employers, and proud to hold Gender Tick accreditation and be a Pride Pledge partner, we support our interns to do meaningful work, grow with confidence, and thrive in an inclusive workplace.

What you’ll bring

  • Currently studying Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline, ideally in your second-to-last year of study

  • An interest in either industrial process engineering across manufacturing and processing industries, or water and wastewater treatment systems that support communities and the environment
