Student - Graduate Assistant, Fraternity and Sorority Life

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Fraternity & Sorority Life supports key operational, educational, and leadership development initiatives within the fraternity and sorority community. This role has a dual focus on fraternity and sorority housing operations and leadership development through the Lori Ziemba & Ken Massaroni Greek Life Leadership Institute.

The GA will gain experience in student development, risk management, program planning, and cross-campus collaboration while contributing to a values-based fraternity and sorority experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Greek Life Leadership Institute Support

  • Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of leadership institute programs, including but not limit to: Chapter President & Council Leader Transition Summit, Emerging Greek Leadership Institute, Alumni Speaker Series and Homecoming Leadership Celebration.
  • Assist in the administration and facilitation of Gallup CliftonStrengths programming, including: Distribution and tracking of assessment codes, and supporting strengths-based workshops and educational sessions
  • Assist with coordination of student participation in external leadership opportunities such as the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV) Central, National Black Greek Leadership Conference, Cultural Greek Experience, Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI), and organization regional/national conferences and conclaves.
  • Maintain organized records of programs, attendance, and engagement metrics

Fraternity & Sorority Housing Support

  • Support the Assistant Director in communication with housing corporations regarding expectations, deadlines, and compliance standards
  • Track and maintain compliance documentation including: Certificates of Insurance (COI), safety inspections (fire alarms, facility compliance, etc.), annual chapter re-registration requirements
  • Support administration of the FSL Housing Exemption process with Residence Life while maintaining accurate housing rosters provided by housing corporations
  • Assist in facilitating and collecting service agreements between the university and housing corporations (e.g., IT, facilities, billing)

Student Leadership Development & Advising

  • Provide advising support to governing councils, chapter leaders, or emerging leaders (as assigned)
  • Facilitate workshops on leadership, values-based decision-making, and community standards
  • Assist with 1:1 student leader support and coaching logistics
  • Support service-learning and community engagement initiatives tied to Institute programming

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Accepted and enrolled in a graduate program in Business, Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field
  • Prior experience with fraternity and sorority life (undergraduate or professional)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Interest in student development, leadership education, and community building

TIME COMMITMENT & SUPERVISION

  • Approximately 20 hours per week (hybrid remote model)
  • Evening and weekend hours required for programs and events
  • Reports to the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Develop skills in DEI & Student Affairs administration and program management; including program assessment, cross-organization collaboration, and strategic planning
  • Strengthen competencies in organization risk mitigation, strength-based leadership development, student advising, and program facilitation
