The Student Manager schedules, coordinates, and supervises the functions of the Aquatics staff, including coordination of hiring, training, and performance evaluation of the student staff, maintaining safety standards, and creating a positive, active experience for all patrons of the Aquatics Center. They may also perform the duties of a Lifeguard as needed.


This position reports to the MCCH Aquatics Center Coordinator. They are responsible to the Student Employment Coordinator and Payroll Coordinator for the University Centers.


Required Qualifications

Applicants must be available to work up to 15 hours per week during the semester, maintain regular office hours, and attend weekly staff meetings and events as necessary, including weekend and evening shifts. Student Managers must also attend a SuperStaff retreat once a semester, in addition to monthly mandatory SuperStaff meetings. Some work over breaks may be necessary. Applicants must be available for at least two (2) weeks prior to the beginning of each semester.


The Student Manager must be able to supervise staff and work without direct supervision.


Successful applicants must complete Lifeguard, Adult CPR, AED, and First AID certification courses within 8 weeks of beginning employment. Certification sessions will be provided by the University Centers. These certifications must be kept up to date throughout employment with the University Centers.


Preferred Qualifications

Applicants should preferably have experience as an Aquatics Center Lifeguard or similar role.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with at least two semesters remaining at UWSP.


Education

The Aquatics Student Manager must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.
