Your Opportunity, Your Team

The Studio Kitchen Lead supports QVC and HSN, and is responsible for daily culinary operations during day, evening, overnight and weekend live shows. You will also oversee production and operational workflow for the Studio Kitchen and supporting areas. You will direct all kitchen activities related to live show coverage and be accountable for the daily staff scheduling for culinary activities across all QVC and HSN platforms. You will communicate directly with all culinary staff regarding day-to-day operations including prep work, live show execution, content shoots, and adjustments to schedules based on changes to live shows, content needs, and maintenance duties.

Where You'll Work

  • This role is onsite and will require you to work from our West Chester, PA headquarters daily.
  • This role will require flexibility and availability to work any day of the week, and any shift.

What You'll Do

  • Communicate to all appropriate staff the daily activities of the Culinary Department omni-channel needs for both QVC and HSN, including but not limited to: program scheduling, product testing, live show needs, shoot requests, recipe development, food preparation, food items, product samples, supplies and equipment.
  • Comprehend all culinary requirements for live show presentations and across all platforms including physical asset preparations for live shows and content shows. Assist in styling and ensure all preparation is finished to specification for live show executions.
  • Responsible for day-to-day scheduling of culinary staff and assigning daily duties. Notify all staff of changes to schedules based on live shows and content needs. Assist staff by ensuring all products and shows are covered; styling tables when needed.
  • Supervise the utilization of food leftovers from sells, collaborate with Provisions Associate to communicate to culinary artists what is available for use from day-to-day; oversee food surpluses to control food costs.
  • Work with Food Stylists and Culinary Support Team to reduce waste and increase usage of alternative food products without jeopardizing on-air demonstrations.
  • Direct supervision of all scheduled Culinary Stylists, Support Staff including all on-call staff, all temporary employees and all utility workers.
  • Will have a supervisory organization and direct reports will be assigned.
  • Scopes: write for both HSN & QVC (with concentration in either food or hardgoods); maintain communication with vendors Attend TSV and TS meetings for respective areas if it falls on prep day, optional Thursday Sales Strategy Production Meetings at 10 (when Culinary is discussed), Planning meetings for respective statics, (ITKWD, GHL, etc., meetings with vendors for upcoming programming/ scopes (Prepology, GLA, etc.), along with Senior Stylist
  • Develop and maintain a teaching strategy for culinary staff which conveys information clearly and in an accessible manner.
  • Schedule trainings for new and existing team members
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures where needed (i.e., opening checklist, end of shift checklists, cleaning assignments, etc.)
  • Assist with applicant interviews and recommendations for hiring and terminating culinary and utility staff. •Counsels culinary personnel and utility staff in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Conduct 1:1s and performance development of direct reports

What You'll Bring

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, Culinary School Degree beneficial

Experience:

  • Must have 5 years of culinary/restaurant experience with 3 years managerial experience required.
  • Knowledge of professional kitchen equipment and operating standards.
  • General skill set consisting of Visual Merchandising, Culinary management, composition and product presentation.
  • Ability to react quickly to critical situations that occur in Live broadcast is a must.
  • Full understanding of the Culinary Business including fine-tuned cooking skills, food specifications, storeroom and refrigeration specifications and requirements, sanitation and safety requirements, food service equipment operation & specs, and culinary terminology and cooking technology.
