St. Patrick Catholic School in Corpus Christi is seeking an exceptional individual for the following position: Substitute Teacher.

The right candidate will ensure academic continuity in the regular teacher’s absence, by following the provided lesson plans to deliver the curriculum, maintain a positive environment through good classroom management, and foster the spiritual, social-emotional, and academic growth of children, in alignment with Catholic teachings.

The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church
- Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Faith & Mission: Support the school's Catholic identity, lead or participate in daily prayers, and integrate Christian values into daily interactions with students
- Instructional Continuity: Execute the lesson plans and learning goals left by the regular teacher. Provide educational instruction, reinforce skills, and collect assigned student work
- Classroom Management: Maintain an engaging, respectful, and disciplined classroom environment
- Supervision: Monitor students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other campus activities to ensure a safe environment
- Reporting: Leave detailed notes for the regular teacher regarding class progress, completed work, and any behavioral incidents
- Performs other duties as assigned
Mental/Physical Demands:
- Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
- Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
- Able to exercise patience with young children and their needs
- Able to bend, kneel, or crouch down to work with young children

- Demonstrates a professional attitude as a member of diocesan staff
- Maintains confidentiality in matters of assigned department and the diocese
- Serves as a representative of the diocese displaying courtesy, tact, positivity, and discretion in all interactions with colleagues and community served

Position Information:
- Reports to Principal
- Part-time, non-exempt
- Must successfully complete pre-employment screening, including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
- Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources is required
- Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures
