SUMMARY OF THE ROLE


The Superintendent, TAR provides leadership and oversight of all Turnaround (TAR) execution activities across multiple disciplines, including personnel, contractors, and support services, with the objective of delivering each TAR event safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standard at the RGLNG Facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate proactive safety leadership to the​ TAR execution team.
  • Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of execution team, leads by example to set and maintain a positive safety culture of compliance and continuous improvement.​
  • Creates and upholds a positive collaborative working environment with contractors and other business partners to enable safe and successful turnaround outcomes under the One-Team ways of working.
  • Coach, Mentor and Lead​ TAR team members to reach their full potential.
  • Ensure competent labor availability to cover critical activities.​
  • Provide oversight and leadership to all maintenance disciplines as required, including Mechanical, Instrument & Controls, Electrical, Plant Services, Specialist Vendors and Contractors upholding the One-Team approach.​
  • Lead the TAR execution activities ensuring the Integrated Schedule (Level 3/4) is the single source of truth for all TAR execution activities and that all work is input into an integrated schedule, critical work is reviewed, and the final schedule optimization review is conducted.
  • Support the stage gate process — the TAR readiness reviews are designed to assess the completion of the phases providing an overall health check of the turnaround readiness to execute.
  • Own the execution of the TAR plan during Phase 6, leading teams in the execution of the Major Maintenance of plant and unit shutdowns and managing critical path activities.
  • Coordinate with the Steering Committee on schedule and cost performance — each TAR is executed in line with approved budget with a cost performance KPI target of actual cost versus planned.
  • Manages efficient rental equipment usage and ensures rental equipment is sent off hire as soon as practicably when equipment usage ends.
  • Drive scope management, managing any scope changes through the SCR process with a formal risk qualification matrix to prioritize risks systematically and risk register for identification, quantification, and prioritization of threats.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement, value adding programmes and cost saving initiatives.
  • Incident investigation event ownership.
  • Takes a lead role in the After Action Review (AAR) process — assessing duration, cost, HSSE, quality or reliability, with AAR actuals vs planned outcomes and root cause analysis of significant impacts.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience. Technical degree in Industrial Maintenance / Mechanical Engineering or similar and NCCER preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in a Turnaround execution lead or superintendent role, supervising multi-discipline TAR personnel on major large scale LNG or oil/gas/petrochemical facilities, with 10+ years experience in LNG/Oil & Gas/Petrochemical industries in a supervisory position.
  • Leadership experience of cross functional teams desirable.
  • Proven experience managing scope activities and leading teams on large-scale turnaround events (300+ personnel) from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for TAR execution across Mechanical, Piping, E&I, Rotating, and Inspection disciplines.
  • Competent at interpreting Engineering Drawings and Documentation i.e. P&ID, ISO, GA, etc. Must have experience with the testing and inspection of Safety Critical Elements (SCE), Statutory and Federal Regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in GOAL setting and performance management.
  • Exceptional working knowledge of CMMS systems (SAP or Similar).
  • Exceptional working knowledge of an MOC process.
  • Experience in frontline leadership during Turnarounds.
  • Experience with turnaround integrated scheduling (Primavera P6 or equivalent) and critical path management.
  • Familiarity with a stage gate assurance process including readiness reviews (SG0–SG6).
  • Familiar with Turnaround Management project software tools and applications
Job Site Work Environment
· Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
· Operates in a complex construction environment.
· Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
· Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.
· Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
· Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
· Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.
