Supervisor Perishables

Supervises all aspects of hygiene and safety within the perishables department. Manages stocks in order to maximise gross margins and profits. Ensures that operating standards are maintained

  • Must be reliable and accountable

  • Grade 12

  • Suitable candidate will go through competency-based assessment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that hygiene, housekeeping and safe working standards are maintained (floor and back-up)

  • Ensure that security procedures are adhered to

  • Ensure that packing, stacking and storage standards are adhered to

  • Conduct regular quality checks, ensure that stock is rotated. Damaged/expired stock is removed

  • Check temperatures and monitor/maintain the cold chain

  • Prevent wastage/shrinkage/damages

  • Complete all relevant administration/documentation

  • Identify out of stocks/over stocks and communicate problems to manager

  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in accordance with rules and regulations

  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, customers and suppliers

  • Physically demanding

  • Temperature variances

  • Handle challenging customers

  • Need to be constantly available

  • Pressurized/fast paced environment with a variety of demands simultaneously
