Supervisor Production
We are seeking a driven and experienced Electrical Production Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Pelzer, SC, supporting Vertiv’s rapidly expanding production operations. This is a critical leadership role within our manufacturing facility, focused on driving operational excellence, electrical safety, team performance, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Position Summary
Manage the electrical assembly and production floor to produce finished products. Ensure all wiring, control panels, and electrical assemblies comply with technical blueprints, quality benchmarks, and NEC/NFPA safety standards. Train employees in electrical work methods, optimize line efficiency, and direct the setup, testing, and adjustment of production lines.
Responsibilities
- Line Management: Ensure proper staffing for electrical assembly lines, adjusting workforce allocation based on production schedules and component availability.
- Quality Assurance: Guarantee that all electrical wiring, sub-assemblies, and finished goods conform to wiring schematics, engineering specifications, and quality test parameters.
- Team Communication: Lead daily shift Tier meetings to communicate production targets, safety protocols, and process updates to assembly technicians.
- Performance Tracking: Establish electrical assembly throughput quotas and provide real-time feedback to technicians regarding speed, accuracy, and workmanship.
- Resource Allocation: Direct workflow within electrical work cells, managing point-of-use materials, specialized tooling, and equipment calibration.
- Shift Handover: Conduct comprehensive shift-change briefings with incoming supervisors to review production metrics, testing bottlenecks, and material shortages.
- Technical Support: Troubleshooting line issues, assisting operators with component placement, and equipment adjustments.
- Cost Control: Monitor labor hours and actively eliminate unnecessary overtime through efficient line balancing and bottleneck resolution.
- Shift Readiness: Verify that tools and equipment are operational prior to shift startup.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Execute operational directives from manufacturing engineers and production managers on regular basis.
- Data Reporting: Maintain and accurately report shift metrics, test pass rates, and output data to the production manager.
- 5S & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment, enforcing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and ESD control protocols.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce cycle times, eliminate material waste, and improve first-pass yield.
- Leadership Backup: Assume operational responsibility for the manufacturing department during the absence of the Production Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Three years of leadership experience in an electrical assembly, construction, industrial controls, electronics manufacturing or general manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety practices, including LOTO, NFPA 70E, NEC Code, and OSHA regulations.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, point-to-point wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Familiarity with wire stripping, crimping, and torque equipment.
- Basic proficiency with MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency using electrical testing instruments, including multimeters, hipot testers, and digital calipers.
- Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and technical communication skills.
Education and Certifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Electrical Technology or a related technical field is preferred but not required.
- Journeyman Electrician license or electrical certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Heavy Lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
- Frequent standing and walking across the production floor.
Environmental Demands
- Working around moving machinery, test bays, and forklifts.
- Protective Equipment Required (safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, etc.).
