Supervisory Management and Program Analyst, GS-0343-14 FPL-14 (OPEPD ONLY)

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Policy Development (OPEPD), Student Privacy Policy Office (SPPO). SPPO is responsible for enforcing two federal laws that provide parents and student with certain privacy rights, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), and for providing technical assistance.

As a Supervisory Managment and Program Analyst, GS-0343-14, you will be responsible for: Advising the Student Privacy Policy Office (SPPO)Director on potential policy concerns, implementation issues, and regulatory matters relating to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA)and the Armed Forces Recruiter Access to Students and Student Recruiting Information provisions (section 9528 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act), including other Department programs and policies affecting these laws. Providing expert guidance to SPPO staff in resolving complaints and compliance issues under applicable student privacy statutes; develops, interprets, and directs plans to address complex or emerging issues involving the application of student privacy laws; and ensures SPPO's policies and responses remain aligned with evolving educational practices, technological developments, and industry privacy best practices. Leading the development and implementation of procedures and systems that improve program efficiency and streamline office operations; clearly communicates organizational goals and priorities; assigns and manages workload and deadlines; guides staff in selecting effective problem‐solving approaches; and fosters collaboration by resolving workplace issues using informal dispute‐resolution techniques to promote open communication and organizational effectiveness.
