A growing engineering and manufacturing services organization supporting clients in the advanced manufacturing industries is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on strengthening supplier performance, supporting manufacturing quality initiatives, and assisting in supply chain optimization. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams while developing expertise in supplier development, quality systems, and advanced manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are metWork with suppliers to resolve technical issues related to product quality and manufacturing processesSupport suppliers in meeting customer specifications and industry standards through training, audits, and improvement initiativesIdentify and help qualify new manufacturing sources for components that are difficult to procureAct as a technical liaison between design engineering teams and suppliers to communicate manufacturing requirements and support vendor quoting processesParticipate in reviewing supplier production processes, schedules, and manufacturing methods to identify improvement opportunitiesAssist with process optimization efforts by gathering and analyzing data related to supplier performanceSupport Process Flow Development and PFMEA activities by helping identify risks and process inefficienciesParticipate in supplier audits and assist in evaluating compliance with quality and regulatory standardsReview incoming materials and products to confirm alignment with technical specificationsPrepare and maintain documentation related to supplier quality, including audit reports, corrective actions, and process updatesCollaborate with engineering teams to resolve supplier challenges and maintain product quality standardsQualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related technical fieldAt least 1 year of experience in supplier development, quality engineering, or a related roleStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to support process improvement initiativesFamiliarity with quality and risk management methodologies such as DFMEA or PFMEABasic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control systemsProficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPointAbility to communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
