Supplier Quality Engineer
- Main KeyResponsibilities
- Conduct supplier assessments and audits to verify compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance, track KPIs, and ensure corrective/preventive actions are implemented effectively.
- Investigate supplier-related quality issues and lead problem-solving activities using tools such as 8D, FMEA, and SPC.
- Collaborate with suppliers to validate manufacturing processes and ensure consistent product quality.
- Lead and review First Article Inspection (FAIs) to validate supplier processes and ensure initial production meets design and quality requirements.
- Drive initiatives to reduce defects, improve yield, and enhance supplier capabilities.
- Partner with supplier development, procurement, engineering, and operations teams to align supplier performance with business needs.
- Maintain supplier quality records, audit reports, and compliance documentation. Prepare and present monthly/quarterly quality reports in Quarterly Business Review meetings.
- Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure continuity and reliability.
- Verify adherence to UL, Telcordia, IEC, RoHS and REACH standards for optical materials and assemblies.
- Other Supporting Responsibilities
- · Evaluate, qualify,and develop new suppliers to meet company standards.
- · Work with suppliersto enhance manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and reduce variability.
- · Provide engineeringguidance to suppliers on product design, materials, and process optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or supply chain management.
- Familiar with ISO9001 or other quality systems is a plus.
- Ability to accurately interpret and communicate engineering drawings across global suppliers.
- Proficiency in quality tools such as 8D problem-solving and FMEA.
- Experience with fiber optic cable manufacturing, connector assembly, or optical component production and familiarity with fiber optic testing methods (OTDR, insertion loss, return loss, environmental stress testing) is a plus but not essential.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin is highly desirable to support supplier engagement in diverse regions.
- Ability to travel to supplier sites globally.
