Supplier Quality Management Sr Engineer (NPDI)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and resolve supplier process control performance issues by developing robust quality control plans and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Drive permanent resolution of supplier issues reported by Vertiv plants and by Customers.
- Perform supplier on-site audits to monitor supplier QMS (Quality Management System) compliance and effectiveness.
- Visit Suppliers to proactively see installations and document improvement needs as well as understand the nature of the issue and get definite corrective action initiated in the organization.
- Utilize technical expertise in EMS and IPC-A-610 Class 2 requirements for acceptance.
- Identify new PCB/PCBA processes, tools and contacts within the industry – including new suppliers, instruments, or processes to further advance the business.
- Evaluate potential new suppliers by conducting on-site assessment for technical compliance with Vertiv requirements and VSAC audit for a new supplier approval.
• Lead and own Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements for starting mass production.
• Initiate and lead supplier performance improvement by partnering with supplier.
- Develop 8D and supplier reports on reported issues.
- Drive permanent resolution of supplier issues by leading problem definition and problem solving through containment, identification of root cause and corrective action with Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR).
- Communicate internally and externally on outcomes of investigations.
- Work with internal cross functional teams including Engineering, Service, Manufacturing / Operations, Sales, Offering Management, and Plants Quality to resolve supplier quality issues impacting Vertiv plant and customers.
- Identify areas for cost reduction across assigned supplier base including internal supplier process, quality improvements.
- Ability to simplify complex information and concisely prepare both verbal and written executive summaries for the Leadership Team.
- Monthly reporting and status updates to management on Supplier performance and various quality initiatives for business management.
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop, manage and implement aggressive project plans.
- Can manage multiple tasks by clarifying priority, difficulties and problems in working these tasks to have timely guidance/support from supervisor and by having plans to complete these tasks.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of quality related activities with PCB/PCBA level supplier quality assurance activity.
- Strong background in applying statistical tools for process and product development and control (i.e. Gage R&R, Process Capability, Control Plans, SPC, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Skilled and experienced with reading and understanding prints, dimensions and tolerances.
- Have basic skills of electrical circuit, electrical components or metal machining.
- Higher skill in either or multiple areas is plus.
- Can manage multiple tasks based on priority, difficulty and severity.
- Perform all job duties in a safe manner and obey all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform all job duties consistent with the Code of Ethics
- Must be PC proficient, with solid knowledge of Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in a Supplier Quality Engineer role or related field.
- Knowledge of printed circuit board assemblies, electrical components, wiring, etc.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 5 years of experience or equivalent.
