The role:

This role provides both strategic and operational HR leadership across TMICC Southern Africa’s end‑to‑end Supply Chain — spanning factory, logistics, engineering, planning, warehousing, and head‑office SC teams. As TMICC builds its identity following the recent separation from Unilever, this is a unique opportunity to shape culture, establish new people processes, and help build a world‑class Ice Cream company from the ground up. You will partner directly with the Supply Chain Lead and Factory LT to drive performance, capability, engagement, and transformation in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Partner with the Supply Chain Lead and Factory LT to define and deliver the SC people strategy across factory and head‑office teams.
  • Balance long-term strategic transformation with daily operational HR support to leaders and employees.
  • Lead and coach the HRBPA to ensure operational HR excellence across recruitment, onboarding, learning, and HR processes.
  • Embed The Ice Cream Way values and drive culture-building initiatives across shifts and SC functions.
  • Ensure strong ER/IR climate by partnering with unions, shop stewards, and worker committees; manage grievances, disciplinaries, and CCMA matters.
  • Support capability building, talent reviews, succession planning, and leadership development for frontline and technical teams.
  • Own and drive the People Development pillar within the WCM/ManEx programme, ensuring robust capability building, skills development frameworks, and a continuous improvement mindset across all Supply Chain teams.
  • Partner with SC teams on workforce planning, labour modelling, absenteeism, and manpower forecasting using data and insights.
  • Drive end-to-end performance management and enable line managers to deliver performance coaching and recognition.
  • Lead organisational change and transformation projects, including post-separation transition, new process creation, and system rollouts.
  • Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation, factory standards, policies, and SHE expectations.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with SC leaders, acting as a credible advisor and enabler of business performance.
  • Activate engagement, wellbeing and communication plans that strengthen connection and psychological safety across all SC employees.
  • Enhance HR process efficiency by simplifying and digitising ways of working aligned with TMICC’s agility agenda.
  • Influence decision-making in a matrixed environment through strong communication, collaboration, and commercial acumen.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, teamwork, transparency, and continuous improvement across the SC organisation.

We're looking for someone who

SKILLS:

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing capability.
  • Ability to engage confidently with unions and navigate IR/ER matters.
  • Exceptional prioritisation, agility, and resilience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Data literacy and ability to use insights to drive speed, credibility, and impact.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix structure and influence without authority.
  • Commercial and strategic thinking with understanding of business impact.
  • Passion for culture-building, people development, and organisational transformation.
  • Comfort working both strategically and hands-on at the factory floor.
  • Ability to simplify complex processes and enable speed and clarity.

EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

  • 3–5 years HR experience in HRBP generalist roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or FMCG environments in South Africa.
  • Strong ER/IR experience including union engagement, grievances, disciplinaries, and labour law application.
  • Experience balancing transformational (change/separation) work with day‑to‑day HR delivery.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • Experience using HR analytics/data to guide decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Industrial/Organisational Psychology, Labour Relations, or related.

Preferred (Advantageous)

  • Exposure to organisational transformation, separation, or start‑up environments.
  • Experience in matrixed global or regional organisations.
  • Certifications in HR, IR, Change Management (e.g., ADKAR, Kotter).
  • Experience supporting engineering, technical or factory leadership teams

LEADERSHIP

(Critical leadership qualities at this WL)

  • Purpose & Service: Connects people priorities to business value and purpose.
  • Personal Mastery: Demonstrates resilience, curiosity, growth mindset and continuous learning.
  • Agility: Moves with speed and simplicity, adapts quickly, manages ambiguity confidently.
  • Collaboration: Operates with a “We over Me” mindset; thrives in non-hierarchical, new‑power environments.
  • Passion for High Performance: Raises standards, gives constructive challenge, and builds trust.
  • Founder Mentality: Acts with ownership, initiative, and accountability in shaping a new organisation.
