SUPV IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/ NETWORK)

This National Guard position is for a SUPV IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/ NETWORK), Position Description Number D2329000 and is part of the OH 179 Cyberspace Wing, Ohio Air National Guard. The purpose of this position is to serve as the unit's full-time Squadron Operations Officer, providing supervision of all operational training, events, exercises, assessments and projects performed while in Title 32 status, and overseeing the management of all CPT and/or ICS defense mission equipment.

As a SUPV IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/ NETWORK), GS-2210-13, you will perform the following duties: 1. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO objectives. Develops, modifies, and/or interprets performance standards. Explains performance expectations to employees and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses. Holds employees responsible for satisfactory completion of work assignments. Appraises subordinate workers performance ensuring consistency and equity in rating techniques. Recommends awards when appropriate and approves within-grade increases. Hears and resolves employee complaints and refers serious unresolved complaints to higher level management. Initiates action to correct performance or conduct problems. Effects minor disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands and recommends action in more serious disciplinary matters. Prepares documentation to support actions taken. Identifies employee developmental needs and provides or arranges for training (formal and on-the-job) to maintain and improve job performance. Encourages self-development. Approves master leave schedule assuring adequate coverage for peak workloads and traditional holiday vacation time. Discharges security responsibilities by ensuring education and compliance with security directives for employees with access to classified or sensitive material. Recognizes and takes action to correct situations posing a threat to the health or safety of subordinates. Applies EEO principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and decisions, and ensures all personnel are treated in a manner free of discrimination. Periodically reviews position descriptions to ensure accuracy, and the most effective utilization of personnel resources. Explains classification determinations to subordinate employees. 2. Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the operations section of a CPT squadron, to include both CPT and/or ICS defense operators, as well as operations staff in charge of training, weapons and tactics, planning, and scheduling. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organizational and commander objectives. Plans work for accomplishment by subordinate flights, sets squadron operational priorities, and approves operational schedules and commitments based on mission requirements, commander's intent, organizational capabilities and customer needs. Develops/publishes direction and/or guidance for subordinate flights and operations staff members in order to implement operational plans, schedules, and commitments. Reviews work and management techniques of subordinate supervisors. Makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors. Ensures CPT and/or ICS defense operational members are current in required training and certifications to maintain mission readiness. 3. Reviews incoming tasking orders, plans, or requests for forces and prepares summaries for review. Determines capability of operations personnel to meet requirements specified in tasking orders, plans, or requests for forces; identifies limitations concerning equipment capabilities, personnel, etc.; and coordinates with tasking activities from government agencies on requirements. Develops supplemental plans to commit personnel and equipment in support of missions assigned by the group or higher headquarters, as well as local emergency plans. Advises higher headquarters and others, both in and outside the state, on preparation of operations plans and orders annexes. 4. Ohio Air National Guard Membership is required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required within one year of the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. The completion of a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) according to AFI 31-501, Personnel Security Program Management, is mandatory. NOTE: Award of the entry level without a completed SSBI is authorized provided an interim Top Secret clearance has been granted according to AFI 31-501. 2. The incumbent must be certified IAW DOD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and obtain Special Experience Identifier (SEI) 264, Information Assurance - Technical Level II (IAT II), IAW current AF directives. 3. The incumbent must have and maintain local network access IAW AFMANs 33-152, User Responsibilities and Guidance for Information Systems and 33-282, Computer Security. 4. Prior to appointment, an applicant's military medical record must indicate a completed and current medical physical, medical profile, and completed/cleared drug test. 5. Must possess a valid state driver's license to operate government motor vehicles, for the state in which they live or are principally employed, in accordance with Army and Air Force Vehicle Operations Directives.6. Personnel in technical category positions must maintain certifications, as required by the certifying provider, to retain privileged system access. The Level One (1) certification is required prior to being authorized unsupervised privileged access.
