Suspension Design Engineer

The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Suspension Design Engineer to join our growing team at the Multimatic Technical Centre Europe (MTCE). You will play a hands-on role in the design, development, and validation of advanced suspension systems and components for a range of high-profile automotive programmes.

From concept through to production, you will be involved in creating innovative design solutions, building and testing prototypes, and supporting our customers with world-class engineering documentation and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & model suspension components and assemblies using Siemens NX CAD software, from initial concept through to production-intent design.

  • Create and maintain engineering records, including drawings, bills of materials, and design documentation to the highest standards.

  • Plan and conduct physical testing of engineering prototypes, analysing results and feeding findings back into the design process.

  • Ensure all components and assemblies meet applicable regulatory, industry, and customer-specific standards.

  • Present design solutions and technical reports to both internal stakeholders and external customers.

  • Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams, supporting programme delivery and contributing to continuous improvement (Kaizen) activities.

  • Uphold quality management standards (e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 9001) and maintain the highest levels of information security and prototype protection.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or similar discipline), or equivalent project experience performing engineering design tasks.

  • Experience in automotive engineering or a closely related field.

  • Strong working knowledge of computer-aided design tools (e.g. CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks).

  • Good working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing ideally to ASME Y14.5)

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to suspension components.

  • Working knowledge of failure mode avoidance tools (e.g. DFMEA, PFMEA, Six Sigma).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Must hold a current passport and driving license and be willing to travel as required.

Desirable Experience

The following areas of knowledge or experience are highly desirable and will strengthen your application:

  • Seals selection, application, and design for dynamic sealing systems.

  • Bearings — specification and integration of bearing systems in rotating or sliding assemblies.

  • Material behaviour — understanding of material properties, selection, and behaviour under load and temperature

  • Friction — tribology principles and their application in mechanical design.

  • Hydraulics — design and understanding of hydraulic systems and fluid power components.

  • Electromechanical systems and sensors

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on world-class automotive and motorsport programmes alongside a highly skilled and passionate team.

  • A collaborative, engineering-first culture that values innovation and technical growth.

  • Exposure to cutting-edge suspension technologies across a diverse and exciting customer base.

  • A supportive environment that encourages professional development and continuous learning.
