Sustainability Manager

This role will support the delivery of Shawbrook’s sustainability strategy by working closely with the bank's Head of Sustainability within the Chief of Staff Office.

This is a cross-functional role which will play a critical role in implementing, measuring, and reporting on Shawbrook’s sustainability strategy, including collaborating closely with key internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the embedding and execution of the Group’s sustainability strategy and agreed strategic priorities – Empowering our People, Strengthening Society and Securing a Sustainable Future, working with both internal and external stakeholders. This includes monitoring external developments, industry standards, and regulations that may affect the strategy, evaluating impact and suggesting amendments as appropriate.
  • Manage processes for delivering our sustainability-related reporting and disclosures in line with external frameworks (including UK SRS). This includes data collection and verification for all publicly disclosed metrics and targets.
  • Own the management of internal governance, committees, and working groups related to sustainability. This includes preparation of papers, minutes, and actions, including follow-ups with stakeholders.
  • Manage the in-house emissions measurement process and analysis, working closely with Finance and Risk function, to ensure accurate and robust outputs.
  • Manage all charitable and volunteering-related activities and processes. This includes working with our strategic charity partner.

Key Attributes

  • Proven experience in sustainability, ideally within financial services
  • Flexibility, resilience, being self-sufficient and able to work well under pressure with often changing priorities.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Self-starter and able to work independently in a fast-moving environment with colleagues at all levels.
  • Good communications skills- high standard of written communications and presentation production, and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
  • Strong communication, project management and analytical skills and be able to create compelling presentations with attention to detail.
