System Administrator
The resource will support the TTAC Infrastructure Modernization effort as a System Administrator (SA). The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. The System Administrator maintains computing environment by identifying system requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support of the a system; provide operations, management, and administrative support to provide 99.9% availability
- Provide additional coverage and support of the system
- Manage system environment
- Performs scripting of tasks to help automate administration and maintenance
- Manage and operate the system which includes all software, hardware, and network infrastructure
- Maintain all system passwords to include servers, Hardware Security Modules (HSM), HSM administrative card sets, workstations, firewalls, network infrastructure, and applications related to the system.
- Establishes system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of PC and server hardware, software, LAN and WAN networks, and operating and system management systems; defining system and operational policies and procedures.
- Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor.
- Secures system by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation.
- Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
- Upgrades system by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Minimum skills and qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or 4 years additional experience in lieu of degree
- 2 or more years of IT Delivery and/or Operations experience with large US Federal projects
- 2 ore more years experience managing Windows and Linux-based systems.
- 2 or more years experience with OS shell scripting (e.g., Bash, sh, ksh, PowerShell, etc.)
- Ability to maintain a calm, fact-oriented attitude in stressful situations.
- Comfort working with senior-level clients.
- Superb written and oral communication skills.
- Positive and helpful attitude.
- Ability to work with others on immediate team and across program teams
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member - Able to work flexible schedule/weekends if needed
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Knowledge of the DHS Systems Engineering Life Cycle methodology
- Familiarity working with the DHS data centers
