Job Description\:
As a System Support Engineer - WSSR, you will be providing technical support and maintenance for the Weapons System Support Rig (WSSR) primary and secondary customers as well as producing maintenance and test procedures.
Core duties\:
- Providing provision of investigation status updates to senior systems engineers and the WSSR manager
- Identifying improvement opportunities for existing maintenance processes and procedures
- Ensuring faults are correctly prioritised and reported
- Developing a working relationship with the customer community such that working with that customer within their domain is a positive experience that continues to enhance the relationship
- Managing the recovery action following a refrigerant leak, coordinating with the on base fire section and other stakeholders
Essential Skills\:
- Understanding of Typhoon avionic/electrical and weapons systems
- Basic understanding of Electronic Warfare, RADAR and associated technologies
- Knowledge of safety standards, processes and certification
- Must be able to communicate technical information eloquently and with ease
The Weapon System Support Rig (WSSR) team\:
The Weapon Systems Support Rig or ‘WSSR’ is a fully integrated Typhoon aircraft avionics system (including Radar, DASS and Weapons). Comprising a Typhoon cockpit and aircraft LRIs hosted in a simulated environment the WSSR rig is ‘flown’ as a real aircraft for software and mission data “hardware in the loop” testing.
The BAE Systems team support varied testing by the customer from trialing new software and hardware ahead of fleet implementation, to recreating aircraft faults reported in flight by pilots, to mission data validation and weapons testing.
