Talent Acquisition Lead

About Carta Healthcare

At Carta Healthcare, we believe a multidisciplinary approach is the right way to solve hard problems. Our mission is to turn patient data into better outcomes, and the biggest barrier to doing that has always been getting computable clinical data that isn’t trash. The historical answer was to make nurses and doctors fill out structured forms in the health record (skilled, time-consuming work called “Data Abstraction”), which is exactly why your provider spends more time clicking boxes than talking to you.

That’s where we come in. We built Cartographer, an AI platform that slashes data-entry time and, better still, builds a rich, trustworthy clinical knowledge graph along the way. That data trains the algorithms behind smarter surgical schedules, fewer surgical site infections, better room staffing, and more. If you want to help hospitals use data to deliver better care, you’ve found the right team.

Carta Healthcare is a remote-first organization. This role is open to candidates legally authorized to work in the United States. Learn more at www.carta.healthcare.

About the Role

We’re hiring a dynamic, growth-minded Talent Acquisition Lead to scale our specialized clinical teams, with a focus on high-volume and niche sourcing for Nurses and Clinical Data Abstractors, and to help lead and support our broader Talent Acquisition function. You’ll partner with hiring managers across the business, set the bar for candidate experience, and help our small TA team punch above its weight.

This is not a “post-and-pray” role. We need a creative talent scout who loves the thrill of the hunt, delivers an exceptional experience to candidates and hiring managers alike, and thrives in a fast-growing, evolving environment.

Location: Remote within the United States. Working hours overlap with Eastern Time (ET) to support close collaboration with our hiring managers and TA team.

Engagement Options

We’re open to either a full-time hire or a contract engagement for this role. Tell us your preference in your application; if you’re flexible, even better. The core work is the same either way, with the differences below.

Full-Time. Reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Includes the full scope below, equity participation, and benefits. The right fit if you want to embed in our team for the long haul, build deep hiring-manager relationships, and shape how we hire over multiple years.

Contract. Initial 3–6 month engagement, with the option to extend or convert to full-time. Reports to the engagement owner on the People team. Focus is on executing a defined hiring portfolio (primarily Nurses and Clinical Data Abstractors); the broader “lead and support the TA team” component is lighter in this version. W-2 contract preferred; 1099 considered for the right candidate. Equity and benefits do not apply.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and support the TA team. Help guide a small, scrappy talent acquisition team: mentoring teammates, refining shared processes, and modeling best practices. (Full-time scope; lighter for contract engagements.)
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting across a diverse portfolio of roles, with a heavy focus on clinical and healthcare hires (Nurses, Clinical Data Abstractors, Quality Professionals) plus corporate and technical positions as needed.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand hiring needs, define candidate profiles, and develop recruiting strategies. Act as a trusted talent advisor, bringing market insights, managing expectations, and driving a collaborative process.
  • Source creatively. Design and execute out-of-the-box sourcing strategies to find and engage passive healthcare talent via LinkedIn Recruiter, networking, referrals, healthcare databases, and alternative online communities and employment forums.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs.
  • Conduct recruiter screens and interviews, managing candidates throughout the full interview process with timely, thoughtful communication.
  • Champion candidate experience with a high-touch, empathetic, and professional approach that reflects Carta’s mission-driven culture.
  • Track recruiting metrics and analytics (time-to-hire, conversion rates, pipeline health), share pipeline updates with hiring managers, and surface market insights.
  • Improve how we recruit. Collaborate with the TA team to sharpen recruiting processes, interview practices, and employer-branding initiatives. (Full-time scope; lighter for contract engagements.)
  • Keep the ATS pristine and ensure strict adherence to employment laws and regulations.
  • Adapt and scale. Actively participate in refining HR processes and take on new hiring challenges as the company expands.

What You’ll Need

  • 7+ years of full-cycle recruiting / talent acquisition experience, with proven success in the medical or healthcare field. Explicit experience sourcing Nurses or Clinical Data Abstractors is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Cross-functional recruiting experience across corporate, technical, and/or healthcare functions.
  • Sourcing mastery. Deep familiarity with LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean logic, healthcare databases, and alternative online communities and employment forums.
  • Hiring manager and executive partnership. Direct experience partnering with hiring managers and business leaders, including senior stakeholders.
  • ATS proficiency. Experience with modern Applicant Tracking Systems. Greenhouse experience is a major plus.
  • Communication and influence. Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build quick rapport with busy clinical professionals and set a gold standard for both candidate and hiring-manager experience.
  • Multi-search agility. Ability to manage multiple concurrent searches in a fast-paced, high-growth environment without dropping the ball.
  • Growth mindset. Coachable, curious, and comfortable with rapid pivots; eager to learn new technologies (including AI-driven healthcare).
  • Tech-savvy and async-fluent. Comfortable working and communicating asynchronously in a remote-first environment.
  • Eligibility. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation & Benefits

Full-time base salary range: $90,000 – $100,000, with the actual offer depending on experience, skills, and location. Total compensation also includes equity and a performance bonus.

Contract rate range: $65 per hour (1099). 1099. Initial engagement of 3–6 months with the option to extend or convert to full-time.

Full-time benefits include:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Remote-first flexibility, plus meaningful in-person time with the team
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays

Contract engagements do not include benefits, equity, or PTO; the hourly rate is structured to reflect that.
