Talent Specialist (Fixed Term Contract)

About Auror

At Auror, we’re empowering the retail industry to tackle theft and Organised Retail Crime, a $150 Billion problem globally. It’s high volume crime that’s increasingly organised in nature and is putting people, retailers, and communities at risk every day.

Founded in New Zealand 12 years ago, we’re working with some of the best and largest retailers in the world across the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Auror is connecting people and intelligence to reduce crime. We’re using technology for good.

Our mission is clear: reduce violent retail crime by 50% in 5 years. It's an ambitious goal - and one we believe is achievable. In partnership with our leading retail partners, we need people with the passion, determination, and innovation required to overcome one of the world's largest problems. If you’re looking to make a difference with and for the people dedicated to stopping crime, for good, then we want you on our team.

We're also embracing the potential of AI to supercharge our impact - whether that's enhancing the way we detect trends, support our customers, or improve internal workflows. As a company, we're committed to responsibly incorporating AI into how we work and what we build, and we encourage all Aurors to be curious about how AI can elevate their work, regardless of role or function.

The Role

At Auror, you'll own end-to-end hiring across multiple geographic markets with a strong GTM lens — sales, marketing, customer success — and an opportunity to expand into ops and product/engineering hiring over time. You’ll have real latitude to shape how we hire and how we show up to candidates, working closely with a People Experience team that operates at a strategic level. Your job is to make sure great talent gets through the door so they can focus on the people experience once someone joins.

What you do here genuinely matters. The quality of your hiring, the strength of the candidate experience, and the employer brand you help build will have a direct impact on Auror achieving its mission of "50 in 5" — reducing violent retail crime by 50% in the next 5 years — and the people experience and culture we're building whilst doing it.

If you're someone who runs a tight process and spots what needs fixing before anyone asks — this is your role. You'll report to the Senior Director of Talent and People Experience and have real ownership from day one.

This role is a 12 to 13 month fixed term contract, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role.

Practically this will involve:

  • Running end-to-end recruiting — from intake through to offer, with hiring managers who'll trust you to run the process well

  • Being a genuine thought partner to hiring managers, not just a coordinator between them and candidates

  • Building the kind of candidate experience people talk about — responsive, personalised, and reflective of Auror

  • Building diverse pipelines intentionally — actively sourcing from underrepresented groups, challenging where our pipelines are too narrow, and advocating for inclusive hiring practices across every team you support

  • Supporting onboarding so the experience doesn't drop off after a candidate signs

  • Keeping Ashby (ATS) sharp — candidate records clean, stages current, data reliable, and nothing falling through the cracks. We use our ATS as a source of truth, and you'll be the one who holds that standard

  • Supporting on talent projects such as EVP development, careers site improvements, recruiting events, process enhancements — and picking them up proactively

This role reports to Sian Govind, Senior Director of Talent and People Experience

At Auror, I lead our Talent & People Experience team with the goal of making Auror the best place for people to do their best work.

I’ve spent the last decade in People & Talent, working with fast scaling, generational technology companies around the world. Along the way, I’ve had the chance to build teams across five continents and having seen firsthand both the complexities and the rewards of diverse workforces, I’m a big believer in creating workplaces where people from all backgrounds can thrive.

Outside of Auror, I’m a proud mum of two energetic boys (7 and 4) who definitely keep me on my toes!

About You

  • 2–3 years of end-to-end recruiting experience — you've owned the full process from sourcing to close, not just one part of it

  • A GTM lens: you understand what strong looks like in sales, marketing, and customer success roles, and you know how to assess for it

  • High agency — you identify what needs to be done and you do it, without waiting for perfect clarity or a nudge

  • Strong stakeholder skills — hiring managers trust you because you're organised, honest, and follow through

  • A genuine eye for candidate experience and employer brand; you care about the impression Auror leaves, not just whether roles get filled

  • Comfortable working at pace with ambiguity — you adapt quickly and don't need everything to be defined before you start

  • Startup or tech industry background is a plus; Ashby experience is a bonus

We are looking for people who demonstrate a strong alignment to our Guiding Principles (you can find these on our Careers page).

With diversity and inclusion at the forefront of Auror’s guiding principles, we promote a culture that celebrates diversity and inclusiveness at Auror, regardless of, but not limited to, race, gender, sexual orientation, family status, religion, ethnicity, national origin, physical disability, veteran status, or age.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range: Depending on level of experience, between $79,000 – $102,000 USD depending on experience (IC2).

  • Annual bonus: Eligibility for a $2,200USD bonus at the end of the financial year if we’ve hit our revenue goals together.

  • Employee share scheme: You’ll own part of a company making a real difference!

  • Flexibility: We are hard-working and outcome focused, but recognise there is more to life than work. We promote a healthy work/life blend.

  • Shorter work weeks (at full pay): Everyone gets Friday afternoons off, so you can start your weekend early, and do more of whatever it is that makes you happy.

  • Focus on mental and physical health: We understand how vital our health is and have policies to support your wellness, including Wellness Days, and up to $500 for expert sessions every year.

  • Health care plan (Medical, Dental & Vision): Auror covers 100% of the cost of your individual health insurance plan with Anthem & Metlife.

  • Family-friendly: We offer comprehensive paid parental leave - 12 weeks for birth parents and 6 weeks for non-birth parents following birth, adoption, or surrogacy, available to all Aurors from day one.

  • Personal growth: We support our team to participate in courses, conferences, or events that will help them develop their skills.

  • Team love: We have regular team lunches and social events where most (if not all) activities are during work hours.
