PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides on-site support as a representative of TMC Transportation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: • Manages transportation process of materials. • Identifies and facilitates from Shipping and TMC on-site. • Manages TMC on-site equipment management process. Identifies equipment for repair. Performs minor repairs in-house or contacts service provider for repairs. • Regularly communicate with Asset Management Department about maintenance and repair needs on all pieces of equipment. • Monitors and tracks all TMC loads inbound and outbound from on-site. • Coordinates on-site shipping and receiving activity with TMC Corporate office. • Provides on-site management of all TMC drivers loading and unloading on-site. • Reviews TMC driver logs for accuracy. • Assists TMC drivers with load securement on out bound freight. • Monitors and provides security for property and equipment in office and drop yard. • Manages terminal contract cleaning crew. • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bringing problems to the attention the TMC Safety Department. • Relate to the public and to customers in a professional, courteous and respectful manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: • Basic knowledge of administration and management. Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment. • Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking and reasoning skills. • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong – to recognize problems when they occur and to work toward a solution of those problems. • Ability to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees. • Demonstrated ability to handle stress and pressure. • CDL endorsements and a clean driving record. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical requirements and work environment described are representative of those present while performing the essential functions of this job. • Must be able to use telephone and computer. • Must be able to speak and hear clearly. • While performing the duties of this job, the driver is regularly required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. • Safely and alertly operate a tractor/trailer by sitting behind the wheel and driving up. • Secure loads of freight with chains, binders, and/or straps. • Tarp loads. This requires taking the tarps (120/150 pounds) out of the storage box on the trailer, lifting the tarps onto the trailer (5 feet off the ground), and covering the load. Must be able to lift tarps that weigh 120/150 pounds above the head. • Climb into the tractor by step, onto the trailer and onto the load, up to a maximum of 14 feet high. Driver must be able to walk across the top of the load in order to cover and secure the load. • Operate a clutch pedal and shift gears. Clutch pedal compression is measured at 50 to 90 pounds depending on the model of the truck. Pedal travel distance is 6 inches. Push/pull force required to shift gears is 5 to 10 pounds. • Check the engine oil, coolant level and power steering fluid. This involves raising the tractor hood, which requires 60 to 90 pounds of force to open depending on the model. • Drop the trailer. Trailers are dropped using manually cranked landing gear. A force of approximately 30 pounds at waist level is required to raise an empty trailer. • Plan and direct work activities of others.
