Team Lead IT Data & AI Governance (m/f/d)

We are expanding our team and are seeking a Team Lead Data & AI Governance (m/f/d) for our headquarters in Frankfurt am Main.

The role drives the definition, implementation, and enforcement of governance frameworks across KION's Big Data & AI landscape - ensuring analytics and AI solutions are compliant, trustworthy, quality-assured, and scalable, while preserving speed and fostering innovation. Acting as a trusted expert, the role partners with global business and IT stakeholders to deliver sustainable, revenue-generating AI solutions across KION's worldwide footprint.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Key responsibilities:

  • Own and evolve global IT Data & AI Governance covering data quality, metadata, lineage and model transparency, as well as the AI/agent solution portfolio.

  • Translate regulatory requirements (e.g., EU AI Act, GDPR, Data Act) into practical implementation standards and controls.

  • Integrate governance into analytics and AI delivery processes (by design), including CI/CD, DataOps and MLOps workflows.

  • Define control mechanisms, review processes and KPIs for data and AI quality and compliance.

  • Enable self‑service governance via tooling, automation and clear guidance/playbooks.

  • Ensure consistent governance implementation across KION’s Analytics, AI and GenAI platforms.

  • Collaborate closely with Data Protection, Legal & Compliance, IT Security and Works Council to ensure alignment with global laws and internal policies.

  • Lead, coach and develop the global team of platform and governance experts.

What we are looking for:

  • Master's degree in computer science, data science, information management, law and technology, or a related discipline

  • Proven experience (7+ years) in AI, data governance, data management, or IT compliance, preferably within a large enterprise environment

  • Understanding of data and AI platforms, familiarity with GenAI architectures (RAG, LLM APIs, AI agents) is a plus

  • Knowledge about AI/ML governance, model risk management, or responsible AI programs

  • Proficiency in navigating international AI and data privacy regulations, standards, and emerging legislative requirements

  • Ability to craft clear governance guidelines, policy documents, and playbooks consumable by both engineers and business stakeholders

  • Hands-on experience governing data and AI solutions in corporate environments and operationalization in technical teams

  • Structured, independent, and analytical way of working, as well as a high willingness to learn

  • Mindset of a governance enabler: Experiences in driving adoption of governance frameworks while preserving speed and innovation

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges

  • Very good knowledge of English, German is a plus.
