Team Leader - Architect
A highly experienced and qualified Architect responsible for leading the delivery of architectural design and technical outputs across multiple projects. The role combines technical excellence, team leadership, and project delivery accountability, ensuring high-quality, coordinated, and compliant design solutions aligned to UK building standards.
The Team Leader drives design strategy, multidisciplinary coordination, and continuous improvement, while managing teams, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring efficient project execution.
Technical Leadership & Design Delivery
- Lead the delivery of architectural technical design solutions across all project stages.
- Establish and manage the technical design delivery strategy, programme, and outputs in collaboration with project leadership.
- Ensure coordination across multidisciplinary teams to deliver coherent and compliant design information.
- Take responsibility for design quality, technical accuracy, and level of detail across all deliverables.
- Identify potential design risks/issues and lead the team in developing robust solutions and mitigation strategies.
- Oversee production of technical drawings, models, reports, and presentation materials.
- Lead the preparation of 2D and 3D visualisations, sketches, and presentations to communicate design intent to stakeholders.
- Enhance team capability and maintain high technical competence standards.
Project & Programme Management
- Collaborate with project leadership to define project scope, programme, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Manage delivery across multiple projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Support development of the Project Execution Plan, including financial forecasting and resource planning.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and UK building regulations.
- Monitor health & safety risks and contribute to risk assessments.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage architectural team, including resource planning and task allocation.
- Provide line management, coaching, and technical guidance to junior and senior team members.
- Drive a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Encourage open communication and early identification of design issues.
- Support staff development, training, and recruitment initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Architect (Chartered preferred).
- 15+ years experience in the architectural/construction industry.
- Proven experience managing large-scale, complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other BIM tools.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong expertise in UK construction methodologies and procurement processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical design delivery and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Experience delivering tender and construction stage packages.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
