Team Leader – Asset Consultancy

We are looking for an Associate to support the team leaders in managing project delivery, including supervision of tasks and review of deliverables. The role will enable you to further develop and use your technical skills, applying your expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency.

You will be part of an award-winning water team within a network of 350 professionals across the UK, supported by our Global Water Team.   • Work as part of WSP’s GCC UK Water team and develop the urban drainage modelling capability in the team, ensuring we are at the forefront of latest developments in the discipline, and provide training and development support to more junior members of the team
  • Provide technical input on urban drainage projects and support our wastewater team in delivering current and future projects and help influence our future approaches to efficient delivery
  • Exercise independent engineering judgement and have opportunities to provide innovative solutions to engineering problems.
  • Ensure projects comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain excellent client relationships at all levels, coordinating and facilitating project meetings internally and with clients, reporting on progress, financials, and addressing technical challenges.
  • Lead the technical delivery of a range of projects relating to water and wastewater infrastructure works from Bengaluru office.
  • Lead day to day liaison with our UK PMs and engineers to ensure project deliverables are developed in accordance with client scope, budget, timescales and quality requirements.
  • Drive innovation and digital delivery culture to the next level.
  • Support the Team Leader with resource and other management duties, managing the work of the local technical delivery team
  • Support technical development of Engineers, Technicians and Graduates.
  • Carryout checks and reviews of projects, assuring quality delivery right first time.
  • Contribute to the learning of the wider team through knowledge sharing exercises

Key Competencies / Skills

  • Excellent command of written and verbal English.
  • Candidate should have a clear and demonstrable technical understanding of standards and norms pertaining to UK Water Industry.
  • A relevant degree and chartered or significantly progressed on your journey in pursuing qualification with ICE or CIWEM.
  • Able to demonstrate clear and successful experience of wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and an ability to check the technical outputs of others prior to issue
  • A good working knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for the Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems and relevant British Standards
  • Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving and originality.
  • Computer literate, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Successful candidate will be a dynamic, self-motivated individual who will take on a Leadership role in project work, focused on delivery to the client and technical excellence. The role requires management of several projects and becoming involved in design at an early stage. The ability to plan and design deliverables against UK engineering standards for each stage of a project is a pre-requisite and training and guidance will be provided where necessary.

  • High degree of self-motivation and ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimum of supervision.

  • Willingness to travel to the UK for short term assignments and training.
  • Strong attention to details and ability to make correct judgements.
  • M.Tech, Master of Science (MS) or bachelor’s degree (BE) in Civil/ Water Resource/ Environmental Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional accreditation from ICE or CIWEM or pursuing.
  • Good understanding of water and wastewater projects, preferably with exposure to standards and specifications in the UK Water Industry. A Minimum of 18 years industry experience is desired preferably based on delivering projects on the UK Water Industry.
  • Experience of one or more areas of UK Water distribution industry projects.
    • Urban drainage modelling / Wastewater modelling.

  • Experience in appropriate modelling software Infoworks ICM and GIS softwares.
