Team Leader Automation Engineering

Job Summary

The Team Leader, Automation and Electrical Engineering is responsible for coordinating automation engineering activities in Mexico, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of automation solutions that support customer value, operational excellence, and business growth. The role combines technical leadership, team coordination, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen execution and capability in line with business priorities.
This position is based in Cuautitlan Izcalli, Mexico.
You might be travelling up to 25% domestic and international 15% of your time.

What you will do

As a Team Leader Automation Engineering you will:

  • Coordinate day-to-day Automation Engineering activities in Mexico, ensuring clear priorities, alignment, and effective execution
  • Support safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of automation engineering solutions that support business goals and customer value
  • Lead technical activities across project execution, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
  • Support team capability by providing technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including project, service, sales, and customer-facing teams
  • Translate business and customer needs into clear engineering actions and priorities
  • Ensure alignment with Tetra Pak standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence
  • Drive simplification, standardization, and productivity improvements across automation engineering work
  • Support planning, coordination, and execution discipline within the team
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning

We believe you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related fiel
  • Must have experience of 5 – 8 years in Automation Engineering plus 3 years leading a team with at least 8 direct reports, in a global company.
  • Experience coordinating technical activities or guiding a technical team
  • Good collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across functions
  • A structured and practical approach to problem-solving and execution
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to adapt to change and manage priorities effectively
  • Fluency in English and Spanish. Portuguese and/or French is a plus
  • Good knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial automation solutions
  • Basic understanding of instrumentation, electrical diagrams, control wiring, and industrial networks
  • Knowledge of tools such as MS Office, Visio, MS Project, AutoCAD, or EPLAN is an advantage
  • Experience with virtualization, cybersecurity, databases, and ISA-S88/S95 is a plus
