Your Role as Team Leader - Kitchen Hand
The Team Leader Kitchen Hand oversees kitchen sanitation, organisation, and supports operations. You will coordinate non-cooking staff functions, including dishwashing, equipment handling, and storeroom operations, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and inventory control
You’ll deliver this role by:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of pantry, storeroom and stewarding staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Monitor cleanliness and organisation of kitchens, workrooms and storage areas.
- Oversee dishwashing processes and the maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery and glassware.
- Control storage, handling and distribution of food supplies and kitchen equipment.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of items, including but not limited to, trolleys, gastro trays and lids and kitchen tools.
- Report shortages and arrange timely replacement or repair of equipment.
- Implement controls to minimise waste, loss and breakage.
- Recruit, train, roster and supervise stewarding staff to maintain service standards.
- Provide support to kitchen and service teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations, including, regular inspections and safe work practices.

What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work in a kitchen environment, including food preparation tasks.
- Sound knowledge of safety requirements applicable to a commercial kitchen environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team-based work environment.
- Proven ability to correctly follow systems, processes, and procedures.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene, including personal hygiene, cleanliness of work areas, and proper care of equipment
A Valuable Addition, Yet Not a Must-Have!
- Previous experience working in a commercial or large-scale kitchen environment.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, audits, or HACCP-based systems.
- Experience working within a healthcare, aged care, or community services setting.
- Basic computer skills relevant to kitchen or food service operations
Essential Requirements

- Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work
