Position Summary
The 2nd Shift Team Leader provides direct leadership and operational oversight for all machine shop, die shop, and spare‑parts activities across the campus during second shift. This role ensures safe operations, production efficiency, quality output, and effective coordination between departments. The Team Leader serves as the primary point of contact for shift performance, troubleshooting, staffing, and workflow management.
Key Responsibilities
- Shift Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and supervise second‑shift employees across machine shops, die shops, and spare‑parts areas.
- Assign work, monitor progress, and adjust priorities to meet production schedules.
- Conduct shift start‑up meetings, communicate daily goals, and ensure alignment with first‑shift and third‑shift operations.
· Operational Oversight
Ensure machines, tooling, and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
Coordinate die repairs, machining tasks, and spare‑parts requests to minimize downtime.
Monitor workflow and proactively address bottlenecks or resource shortages.
· Quality & Compliance
Ensure all work meets quality standards and follows established procedures.
Support root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or process issues.
Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and 5S/lean practices.
· Team Development & Support
Train, coach, and mentor team members to build skill sets and improve performance.
Provide real‑time feedback and participate in performance evaluations.
Promote a positive, collaborative, and safety‑focused work environment.
· Communication & Reporting
Serve as the primary contact for second‑shift issues, escalations, and decision‑making.
Document shift activities, production results, downtime events, and staffing updates.
Communicate effectively with maintenance, engineering, production planning, and management.
Qualifications
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, machining, and die shop environment preferred.
- Experience with CNC programming and offline software preferred.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, die repair, and spare‑parts management.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead diverse teams.
- Working knowledge of safety standards, lean manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement principles.

Prioritize and assign tasks, establish procedures, provide instruction
Evaluate and review tasks with team members upon completion
Perform daily assessments of work area to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are achieved
Evaluate various quality and safety matters resulting from daily production activity. Advise and assist on development countermeasures
Prepare reports as necessary and promote ideas for improvement
Maintain good 5S of the workplace and ensure appropriate safety conditions are met
Train and mentor other associates on DENSO’s processes and policies
Work as a cross-functional member on projects
Performs Human Resources activities including scheduling, tracking attendance, and counseling

High School Diploma / GED
For Current Exempt Associates:
- Must have completed 1 year of service with DENSO by job posting date,
- Active Team Leader(s) must be in current role for 1 year from movement date… OR
For Non-Exempt Associates:
- Must have completed 6 months of service with DENSO by job posting date AND
Must not have any active disciplines
Knowledge of Production policies, procedures, and terms.
Excellent written and oral and presentation skills
Knowledge of appropriate office software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to coordinate and monitor a high level of activity under a variety of conditions
Ability to comprehend complex instructions and respond effectively
Perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly
Ability to rapidly coordinate eyes, hands, and fingers and accurately handle precise movements.
Ability to coordinate the eyes and both hands and feet in response to visual stimuli.
Ability to work in a variety of adverse environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, noise, etc.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
