Are you a passionate and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) looking for a leadership role where you can truly make a difference?
We have an exciting opportunity for an AMHP Team Manager to join our dynamic Mental Health Service. This role offers a unique chance to work alongside our existing AMHP Manager to provide strong, supportive leadership across our AMHP service and play a key role in overseeing our Forensic Mental Health Team.
About the Role
This is a varied and impactful leadership role where you will:
- Lead and support a team of AMHPs, ensuring high-quality statutory practice under the Mental Health Act (MHA).
- Work jointly with the current AMHP Manager to provide operational oversight and strategic direction.
- Provide out-of-hours support and guidance to AMHPs.
- Take a key role in overseeing the Forensic Mental Health Team, ensuring robust coordination, risk management, and partnership working.
- Promote excellent practice, ensuring decisions are legally sound, person-centred, and outcome-focused.
- Contribute to service development, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support staff wellbeing, professional development, and reflective practice.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- A qualified AMHP (essential) with current approval or willingness to reapprove within 3 months of starting the post.
- An experienced practitioner with strong knowledge of Mental Health Act, Care Act, and safeguarding frameworks.
- A confident leader who can support, guide, and challenge practice where necessary.
- Skilled in managing complexity, particularly within forensic and high-risk environments.
- Passionate about delivering high-quality services and improving outcomes for people with complex mental health needs.
- A collaborative professional who values partnership working across health, social care, and criminal justice agencies.
