Technical Lead - AI Automation Systems
BJAK is building AI-powered automation systems for insurance workflows - from quote generation and policy issuance to endorsements, claims follow-ups, document collection and insurer approvals.
We are looking for a Technical Lead who can turn complex operational workflows into reliable systems. This is a hands-on role for someone who can lead engineers, understand messy real-world processes and build automation that reduces manual work at scale.
The Mission
Lead the buildout of AI and workflow automation systems that make insurance faster, cleaner and easier for customers and internal teams.
What You’ll Own
Lead technical delivery for AI automation and workflow systems.
Break down quote, policy, claims and endorsement processes into clear system logic.
Work with product, operations, insurers and engineers to automate manual workflows.
Guide backend, frontend, QA and DevOps execution.
Improve reliability, observability and exception handling across automated flows.
Review architecture, technical trade-offs and implementation quality.
Help build systems that can scale across multiple countries.
What We’re Looking For
Strong software engineering experience in production systems.
Experience leading technical delivery across backend or platform work.
Good understanding of APIs, workflow logic, databases, and system design.
Able to simplify messy operational problems into working systems.
Comfortable working with ambiguity and cross-functional teams.
Strong ownership, clear communication, and calm problem-solving.
Low ego, hands-on, and serious about long-term system quality.
The Kind of Builder We Want
Thinks clearly through complex workflows.
Can lead without losing touch with details.
Practical about AI, automation, and real business constraints.
Calm when systems, people, or requirements are messy.
Driven by impact, not title.
This Role Is Not For
People who only want architecture discussions.
People who avoid messy operational details.
People who overbuild instead of solving the real problem.
People who cannot work with non-technical teams.
People who talk about AI but cannot ship systems.
Success Looks Like
Manual insurance workflows become more automated.
Quote, issuance, endorsement, and claims processes move faster.
Exceptions are tracked and handled better.
Engineering delivery becomes more structured.
Teams trust your judgment and follow-through.
Interview Process
We assess candidates based on culture fit, working style, and technical leadership capabilities. The process begins with an application review, followed by three rounds of interviews, including a technical discussion or practical task focused on workflow and system design.
