Technical Market Development Lead

Role Purpose:

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Crop Protection Development (CPD) team is seeking a Technical Market Development Lead in Harare, Zimbabwe. This role will be accountable for and responsible for the co-ordination of successful NPI delivery, launching in Zimbabwe and Malawi and contributing to the future profitability and growth of the business by demonstration trial programs, technical expertise, providing training to commercial colleagues and eternal customers.

Accountabilities:

  • CPD representation during Portfolio Definition Cycle (PDC) - business case contribution and project prioritization
  • Responsibility for demo trialing program, technical commercial support and helping to grow the business
  • Timeous demo trial planning and execution with relevant and influential partners and customers
  • Strive to achieve a 100% success rate of allocated trials in terms of quality(conclusiveness) and on-time delivery
  • Establishing good relationships with relevant external stakeholders, i.e.. distributers, grower organizations, growers, Key industry players
  • Expert responsibility within business area or country creating the additional accountabilities as the owner of technical expertise per product, crop or subject matter and driving standardization and transformation of ways of working
  • Interpreting demo trial results in an understandable language to impact commercial stakeholders and report on observations/results not specified in the protocol
  • Validating results and providing recommendations / insights on performance of tested products and solutions at single and combined trial levels
  • Arranging demonstration days (field, classroom, virtual or other platforms) to train internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsibility for engagement and technical support to local colleagues (marketing, sales and regulatory)
  • Ensuring that all operations under direct control comply with Syngenta Health, Safety & Environment policies, guidelines as well as any other relevant Syngenta or statutory policies
  • Supporting sustainability and stewardship activities in the country

  • Minimum B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture with majors in plant pathology or entomology, agronomy and weed science preferably
  • Minimum 5 years product development experience
  • Proven track record of technical knowledge in the agronomical field (crop protection focused)
  • Have an influential reputation in the agricultural industry
  • Good interpersonal relationship skills, building relationships with commercial and other stakeholders
  • Ability to translate highly technical information into understandable information dependent on audience requirement
