Technical Report Writer Energy & Regulatory Communications

This role focuses on transforming complex technical input into clear, structured, and publication-ready reports that support regulatory oversight and energy industry communications. You will work closely with subject matter experts, consultants, and review committees to translate meeting notes, transcripts, and draft materials into polished technical and public-facing documents. The position plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity across recurring reports, including annual publications, meeting summaries, and stakeholder updates. You will contribute to the communication of highly technical topics such as energy operations, safety oversight, and regulatory compliance in an accessible and professional format. Working in a collaborative, review-driven environment, you will manage iterative feedback cycles and help improve reporting workflows over time. Accountabilities:
- Draft, edit, and refine recurring technical reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual) using existing materials such as notes, transcripts, and consultant inputs.
- Transform complex technical and regulatory information into clear, well-structured narratives suitable for both expert and public audiences.
- Produce meeting summaries and reports based on transcripts, recordings, and stakeholder discussions.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, committees, and reviewers to incorporate feedback through multiple revision cycles.
- Develop short-form communications including memos, stakeholder updates, and public-facing summaries.
- Ensure consistency in formatting, terminology, tone, and structure across all deliverables.
- Participate in virtual meetings as needed to gather context and support reporting accuracy and alignment.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in technical writing, regulatory reporting, white papers, or similar structured documentation roles.
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible, and well-organized content.
- Experience working with engineers, scientists, consultants, regulators, or other technical subject matter experts.
- Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple review cycles and incorporate stakeholder feedback effectively.
- Familiarity with energy, utilities, infrastructure, environmental, or regulatory sectors is highly desirable.
- Experience working with meeting transcripts and synthesizing key insights is a strong plus.
- Competitive hourly compensation ranging from $60 to $80/hour.
