Localization Specialist (Korean)

The Red Hat Localization team is looking for an experienced, tech-savvy Technical Translator (Korean) to join us remotely in Australia.

Red Hat is the world’s leading provider of enterprise open-source solutions. In this role, you won't just translate words; you will bridge the gap between complex open-source engineering and our Korean-speaking enterprise users. You will be responsible for the translation, post-editing, review, and quality assurance (QA) of software user interfaces (UIs), command-line interfaces, and the extensive technical documentation that empowers our customers.

You will collaborate closely with a global team of linguists, software engineers, technical writers, and open-source subject matter experts (SMEs).

What You Will Do

  • Advanced Post-Editing & Translation: Perform high-quality Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) and human translation of deeply technical Red Hat content from English into Korean, including enterprise software manuals, API documentation, and knowledge base articles.

  • Software UI Localization: Translate and adapt software user interfaces, ensuring character limits, variables, and technical context are meticulously maintained.

  • Quality Assurance & Feedback Loops: Use direct feedback from Red Hat’s Korean enterprise customers and internal regional teams to continuously refine style guides, glossaries, and translation memory.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Red Hat software engineers and technical writers to clarify complex architectural concepts and improve source-content localizability.

  • Community & Team Alignment: Work collaboratively with peer translators and open-source community contributors to maintain linguistic consistency across the Red Hat ecosystem.

What You Will Bring

  • IT Domain Expertise: A strong understanding of IT, cloud computing, or enterprise software concepts. You must possess the research skills necessary to accurately translate complex concepts (e.g., Kubernetes, Linux kernel, virtualization).

  • Linguistic Excellence: Native-level fluency in Korean and professional/advanced proficiency in English, with a proven track record of technical writing or translation.

  • Localization Toolkit: Familiarity with modern Translation Management Systems (TMS) and Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools.

  • Collaborative Mindset: The ability to work autonomously as a remote employee in Australia while seamlessly integrating with global, cross-functional teams.

  • The Red Hat Spirit: A genuine passion for open-source technology and a desire to build a long-term career within the enterprise tech industry.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Prior experience localizing enterprise software UIs from English to Korean.

  • A background or formal education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Experience navigating developer tools like Git, GitHub/GitLab, or working with Markdown/DocBook formats.

  • Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or open-source communities.
