Technician 1

Functions in a engineer technician/technical specialist capacity. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and perform assignments of a design nature by applying basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex design concepts. Provide technical guidance and may mentor other engineering technicians.

Job Responsibilities

• Reviews project standard requirements and accurately determines the correct format and contents of the required deliverables.
• Promotes quality within team. Reviews design inputs in order to ensure consistency. Assists to ensure deliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
• Applies basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing smaller-scale designs and deliverables. Applies judgement and makes decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation. Capable of handling technical assignments within a discipline. Performs design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records with oversight from an Engineer.
• Communicates directly within team to identify and coordinate details of work for assigned tasks.
• Supports internal project teams and clients, regularly interacts with client's technical lead for data requests, site visits, clarification of project execution and review of comments.
• May assist discipline or department in developing and communicating appropriate design standards. Identify technical training and development needs for individuals they supervise.

Experience

Typically a minimum of 8 years related work experience.
