Role Summary

The Commercial AV Project Foreman combines the advanced technical capability of a Level 3 Technician with the field leadership responsibilities of a Lead Technician. This role is responsible for leading on\-site installation teams, ensuring quality execution of complex AV systems, and serving as the primary field liaison between the installation crew, Project Manager, clients, general contractors, and IT teams.

The Project Foreman must be capable of independently commissioning complete AV systems, configuring control and DSP platforms, troubleshooting at a system level, and managing the daily workflow of field teams. This is not just a senior installer \u2014 it is a field leadership role that directly impacts project outcomes, client satisfaction, and team development.

Core Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Project Execution
<\/div>
\u2022 Lead on\-site installation teams across commercial AV projects from rough\-in through commissioning
<\/div>
\u2022 Serve as the primary field point of contact with Project Manager, clients, GCs, architects, and IT teams
<\/div>
\u2022 Interpret and execute from complete project documentation: AV drawings, rack elevations, signal flow diagrams, one\-line diagrams, and network schematics
<\/div>
\u2022 Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to Logic Integration quality standards
<\/div>
\u2022 Identify and communicate job\-site risks, issues, scope changes, and change order needs proactively to the Project Manager
<\/div>
\u2022 Manage daily task sequencing, crew assignments, and material staging on\-site
<\/div>
\u2022 Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites; enforce company installation standards and OSHA compliance
<\/div>
\u2022 Read and redline drawings; document as\-built conditions and field changes
<\/div>

Advanced System Installation & Configuration
<\/div>
\u2022 Install, terminate, and test all low\-voltage cabling types (Cat6/6A, fiber, coax, speaker, control, shielded audio) per AVIXA and TIA standards
<\/div>
\u2022 Build, wire, dress, and label equipment racks to Logic Integration and AVIXA standards including power sequencing, UPS integration, and thermal management
<\/div>
\u2022 Install and configure complete commercial AV systems including:
<\/div>
\- Displays, video walls, LED walls, and projection systems (screens, lifts, rear\-projection assemblies, mounts)
<\/div>
\- Audio systems: DSPs, amplifiers, speakers, microphone systems, automated/manual mixers, EQs, compressor/limiters, speaker processors, and outboard gear
<\/div>
\- Control systems (Crestron, Extron, etc.) including IR, RF, IP, CEC, and RS\-232 communication protocols
<\/div>
\- Video conferencing and collaboration systems (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Poly)
<\/div>
\- Digital signage, media players, and content distribution systems
<\/div>
\- Lighting control, motorized shade control, and surveillance integration
<\/div>
\- Accessory equipment: pop\-ups/cable cubbies, floor boxes, in\-ceiling camera systems, and conference table integration
<\/div>

Control Systems & DSP Programming
<\/div>
\u2022 Upload, download, and perform field edits to control system programs
<\/div>
\u2022 Write and modify audio programs for common DSP platforms (Biamp Tesira/Audia, QSC Q\-SYS, Extron)
<\/div>
\u2022 Configure and tune audio systems: gain structure, EQ, routing, zone management, and speaker optimization
<\/div>
\u2022 Proficiency with AV control and configuration tools: Crestron Toolbox, Biamp Tesira software, Extron Global Configurator, QSC Q\-SYS Designer
<\/div>

<\/div>
Networking & AV\-over\-IP
<\/div>
\u2022 Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: OSI model (Layers 1\u20133), IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, and basic switching
<\/div>
\u2022 Configure AV devices on managed networks and coordinate with client IT teams on port provisioning, VLAN assignments, and firewall rules
<\/div>
\u2022 Experience with networked AV protocols: Dante, AES67, AVB, NDI, SDVoE
<\/div>
\u2022 Configure network switches and basic port forwarding for AV system requirements
<\/div>
\u2022 Understanding of wireless RF environments for microphone systems, LAN, and control devices
<\/div>

System Commissioning & Troubleshooting
<\/div>
\u2022 Fully commission any level of commercial AV system from conference rooms to large\-scale presentation and pro\-audio environments
<\/div>
\u2022 Perform signal verification, audio tuning, video calibration, and system optimization
<\/div>
\u2022 Diagnose and resolve complex system issues independently using logical, step\-by\-step diagnostic methodology across cabling, hardware, configuration, programming, and network layers
<\/div>
\u2022 Perform final system testing, punch\-list completion, and client walk\-through/training
<\/div>
\u2022 Ensure all systems meet performance, usability, and client expectations before sign\-off
<\/div>

Team Development & Accountability

\u2022 Train and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 Technicians on installation techniques, standards, troubleshooting, and professional conduct

\u2022 Delegate tasks effectively across team members based on skill level and project needs

\u2022 Ensure accurate time tracking and daily reporting for entire on\-site crew

\u2022 Hold team members accountable for quality, safety, and professionalism on\-site
