Job Description:

Job Family Definition:

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. In the Telco Solutions context, focuses on orchestration, end-to-end automation, Assurance Fault Management, Performance Management, RAN and 5G Automation, and cloud-native solutions with AI applications for optimization. Emphasizes systems architecture specific to Telco Solutions and the integration of cloud-native patterns and AI capabilities (e.g., MCP servers, agentic AI).

Management Level Definition:

Contributions impact technical components of HPE products, solutions, or services regularly and sustainably. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise and partnership to functional and technical project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others. In Telco Solutions, includes leadership of R&D groups with both technical and functional accountability, aligning R&D outcomes with telco customer requirements and business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads multiple R&D software teams comprising software engineers and external collaborators, assuming technical and functional leadership on Telco products and Solutions, focused on functional areas such as Orchestration, end-to-end Automation, Fault Management, Performance Management... domains like RAN, 5G core or transport networks, with an emphasis on cloud-native architectures and AI-enabled optimization.
  • Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced R&D partners, ensuring contributions align with business objectives, quality metrics, and delivery timelines.
  • Defines and enforces software design guidelines and standards for the R&D organization, delivering tangible feedback to improve product quality, mitigate failure risks, and ensure traceability of requirements.
  • Provides both technical and functional leadership within R&D teams: assigns tasks, facilitates technical decision-making, coordinates priorities, and ensures coherence between technical initiatives and operational business needs.
  • Serves as a bridge between the technical and functional domains: translates business and customer requirements into viable software solutions, architectures, and implementation plans, defining roadmaps, milestones, and success criteria.
  • Drives innovation and integration of emerging technologies (including cloud-native solutions, applied AI for operations, and MCP servers) within R&D projects, promoting scalable, reusable, and telco-aligned practices.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to more junior staff, fostering the development of technical and management capabilities within the team; supports performance reviews and individual development plans.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate strategic requirements into end-to-end telco software solutions, covering design, analysis, coding, testing, deployment, and operations in telco environments.
  • Communicates design proposals and architectures to senior leadership; negotiates technical options and implementation roadmaps to achieve business objectives in telco and cloud contexts.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • Typically 6-10 years experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive experience with multiple software design tools and programming languages relevant to telco platforms and R&D environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proven ability to design scalable, cloud-native software solutions.
  • Experience in overall software architecture for telco products and solutions, including orchestration, network automation, and management domains.
  • Designing and integrating software systems across multiple platform types into a cohesive telco architecture; familiarity with RAN, 5G, edge, and cloud contexts.
  • Experience evaluating testing forms and processes for software systems testing, including writing and executing test plans, debugging, and using testing scripts/tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English and local language; ability to present architectures and proposals to senior management and negotiate options at the executive level.
  • Desirable knowledge: cloud-native telco solutions, microservices, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD; AI/ML applications in telco environments and their integration into operations ; familiarity with MCP servers, NFV, and orchestration platforms; experience with Assurance Fault Management and Performance Management domains in RAN, core, or transport networks.
  • Certifications related to cloud, networking, or telco automation are a plus.
