Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate Iowa's States' 4-H International Exchange Program, managing outbound and inbound youth exchange experiences in collaboration with national and international partners.
Recruit, interview, select, and prepare Iowa youth participants for international exchange programs, including orientation, risk management, travel planning, and registration processes.
Coordinate placement of international youth participants in Iowa communities by recruiting, screening, interviewing, training, and supporting host families across the state.
Conduct host family home visits and evaluations to ensure compliance with program standards, youth protection policies, and risk management requirements.
Manage logistics for inbound and outbound exchanges, including travel arrangements, participant documentation, emergency preparedness planning, and program compliance.
Collaborate with national States' 4-H Exchange coordinators and international partners to oversee participant placement, registration, communication, and program implementation.
Monitor participant well-being and provide ongoing support to youth, host families, and volunteers throughout exchange placements and travel experiences.
Ensure compliance with 4-H youth development policies, risk management protocols, and international exchange program requirements.
Maintain participant records, prepare program reports, and provide regular updates to Iowa 4-H leadership regarding placements, program outcomes, and operational needs.
Coordinate monthly planning and progress meetings with Iowa 4-H leadership to ensure alignment with statewide youth development goals and exchange program priorities.
Represent Iowa 4-H at national coordinator trainings and annual States' 4-H Exchange conferences, contributing to professional development, partnership development, and continuous program improvement.
Required Minimum Qualifications (for temps/postdocs only, delete for all other positions):
High School Degree
Three years experience coordinating youth, volunteer, educational, or community-based programs.
Knowledge of positive youth development, volunteer management, and risk management practices.
Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with 4-H, Extension, youth development, or international exchange programs.
Experience recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers or host families.
Experience coordinating youth travel, placements, and risk management activities.
Knowledge of intercultural education and international youth exchange programs.
Experience facilitating trainings and building community partnerships.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
