Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team. The Toolmaker will be responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing tools, dies, and jigs to ensure optimal production quality and efficiency. This position involves working with precision instruments, interpreting technical drawings, and performing complex machining tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with a range of machine tools and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacture, build, repair, and maintain mould tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges used in the production of gas turbine components.
- Operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment, to produce parts with high precision.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to plan and execute projects.
- Perform troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of tools and dies.
- Ensure all tools meet quality standards and are in compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to resolve tooling issues and make improvements to enhance production efficiency.
- Conduct tests on newly built or repaired tools to ensure they meet performance and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of tool usage, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Requirements
O-Level or GCSE equivalent; completion of a recognised apprenticeship or vocational program in toolmaking or machining preferred.
5 years of experience in toolmaking or machining within a manufacturing or production environment.
Proficiency with machine tools and techniques, including milling, grinding, and CNC programming.
Strong knowledge of technical drawing reading and measurement techniques.
Ability to work with a variety of materials, such as Tool Steels, Aluminium and Graphite (Electrodes)
Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Toolmaking, Machining, or related fields. Apprenticeship or Equivalent
Experience in the use of CAD/CAM software.
