Main Purpose

As part of the expansion of our trading desk and the growing importance of US LNG for Asia, we are seeking an experienced Trader with experience in both US Nat Gas and international LNG markets. The role will be instrumental in developing long-term relationships and identifying opportunities in the structured and mid-to-long term trading space.

This position demands the ability to design and execute trading strategies, effectively manage risk, and build lasting partnerships with key stakeholders across the region.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • CEMS Masters degree in International Management or Master’s degree in Business Engineering.
  • 2-3 years of experience in trading US natural gas and LNG in the Atlantic basin.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in using trading and risk management systems.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English, French, Dutch, German and Spanish.
  • Proven track record of profitable trading and P&L management
  • Proficient with risk management principles and trading systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and make informed decisions under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trade physical LNG across spot, mid-term, and long-term with a particular focus on the US market.
  • Develop new and broaden/deepen existing relationships with counterparties.
  • Manage risk (both financial and operational) and extract value through portfolio optimization and new deal origination.
  • Structure, negotiate, and execute complex multi-year deals in a value-creative manner.
  • Analyze market trends, supply-demand dynamics, and pricing structures in the LNG market.
  • Develop and implement trading strategies to optimize profitability and manage risks.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and geopolitical developments impacting the LNG market.
  • Execute LNG trades, including spot and term contracts.
  • Negotiate and finalize commercial terms and contracts with counterparties.
  • Manage the physical delivery of LNG cargoes, coordinating with the Operations teams.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company’s presence.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential new clients and partners.
  • Collaborate with the Global Head to create and implement strategies for market expansion.
  • Assess and recommend potential investments, joint ventures, and partnerships that align with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key market participants, including suppliers, customers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, events, and meetings.
  • Provide market intelligence and insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor trading performance and report on PnL, market positions, and trading activities.
  • Conduct post-trade analysis to evaluate strategy effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management.
