What will you do?
Pet Valu’s supply chain has grown significantly as the company has expanded, supported by a $100M investment in supply chain technology and facilities. As part of this investment, Pet Valu launched Manhattan Active Transportation Management to improve network planning, centralize transportation data, and strengthen reporting and operational visibility. Pet Valu’s transportation team is responsible for the movement of all collect inbound freight to the company’s three distribution centres across Canada, and outbound to 800+ stores.
The Transportation Data Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and cost-effectiveness of inbound and outbound transportation data and spend. This role oversees transportation data within the TMS, supports freight audit activities by validating carrier charges and logistics metrics, and develops reporting and KPI insights that drive data-based decision-making. The analyst also helps maintain system configurations, support cost allocation processes, identify opportunities to improve transportation performance and reduce expenses, and partner closely with internal supply chain and IT teams, as well as external freight carriers, to maintain efficient and effective transportation operations across Canada.
Responsibilities
Data Management and Governance
- Own the data for the transportation management system by being the subject matter expert for all TMS data, working with IT teams on data flows, and implementing technical business rules, including maintenance carrier, lane, and rate data
- Developing and maintain KPI reports for supply chain, and communicate performance results and insights to stakeholders
- Manage setup, collection, and analysis of bid data for carrier RFPs
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for optimization. Develop and maintain comprehensive, automated reports and dashboards using advanced data visualization tools. Present complex data insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Develop common metrics and data processes that drive business outcomes. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in data management and analytics, and recommend innovative solutions to improve data-driven decision-making.
Freight Invoice Audit & Validation
- Review and audit outbound freight invoices to ensure accuracy against contracted rates, routing guides, and shipment details
- Identify and resolve discrepancies such as incorrect rates, accessorial charges, or duplicate billing
- Approve validated invoices for payment processing
Training and Support
- Provide training and support to end-users on TMS data tools and best practices. Mentor junior analysts and other team members to enhance their analytical and technical skills.
- Vacation / sick time coverage as necessary
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in supply chain / logistics activities
- Experience with TMS, WMS, optimization tools, or network modeling preferred
- Experience with Excel, PowerBI, Access, Cognos, Snowflake, and other database and analytics tools
- Experience with data analysis and building KPI tools
Compensation:
The targeted salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000 annually. The final offer will be based on factors such as market location, relevant skills, experience and internal equity.
