Underwriter, Casualty SBS (SCOR Business Solution)
The Underwriter role combines technical risk assessment with commercial development responsibilities.
The position is accountable for selecting and pricing risks while ensuring alignment with the Group’s risk appetite and profitability objectives. It also drives business growth through proactive origination, client relationship management and cross-selling initiatives.
The role requires strong collaboration across underwriting centres and internal functions, particularly in claims and reporting.
Finally, it involves maintaining high-quality data, monitoring portfolio performance and contributing to market intelligence and technical expertise.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Underwriting & Risk Assessment
- Receive, assess and select Casualty / Financial Lines submissions from various sources
- Analyze underwriting information and determine risk acceptability
- Negotiate terms, conditions and pricing of contracts
- Contribute to claims handling in collaboration with the claims department
2. Portfolio Development & Profitability
- Generate new business opportunities through proactive marketing aligned with strategy and risk appetite
- Develop profitable growth areas and identify new opportunities
- Implement growth strategies including key account management and cross-selling initiatives
- Contribute to technical expertise in assigned sectors
3. Client & Market Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers and cedents across markets
- Promote SCOR’s offerings and capabilities in relevant markets
- Ensure a consistent pipeline of quality business opportunities
4. Reporting, Data & Tools
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of risks in underwriting systems (e.g. Forewriter, Omega II, Salesforce)
- Produce reports and analyses as required for monitoring and decision-making
5. Collaboration & Internal Coordination
- Work closely with internal teams across underwriting centres (e.g. Singapore, London, Paris)
- Support other business lines through cross-selling initiatives

Required experience & competencies
- Minimum 3 years underwriting experience in insurance/reinsurance market (ideally professional line experience in Direct / Facultative)
- Proven underwriting skills for complex Casualty/Financial line program of large corporates (wordings, quotations)
- Knowledge of competitors, cedents and brokers
- Team player
- Proactive, motivated and result oriented
- Curiosity, keen to take on new challenges and responsibilities (e.g. new products or market)
- Resilience, able to work under pressure with competing priorities
- Commercial and tactical vision : ability to successfully negotiate “face to face” with brokers
- Combines strong technical skills with good commercial skills
Required Education
Master’s degree Insurance, Finance, Risk Management,…
