JOB OVERVIEW:
The Underwriting Assistant- Health Underwriting, ensures the smooth functioning of the Group Health Underwriting Department by providing support and assistance to underwriting staff. The Underwriting Assistant is required to perform administrative duties regarding new, existing and renewal accounts. The incumbent will also provide administrative support to the team by writing letters, addressing queries and filing correspondence.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administrative Duties
• Assign cases to the Underwriters as per the direction of the Team Leader or Manager
• Assign requests for proposals to Underwriters as per the direction of the Team Leader or Manager
• Manage the underwriting support mailboxes and responding to queries within 2 business days.
• Assign Renewals and renewal reviews to underwriters as per the direction of the Team Leader or Manager
• Preparation of individual health refund cheques for postponed/declined/file closed and not proceeded cases.
• Prepare daily and monthly assignment and TAT reports for the underwriting team.
• Follow-up on requests over TAT currently with the underwriters
• Update PCM with renewal premium information once acceptance has been received from the group policyholder.
• File and maintain Group Health & Life and Individual Health files.
2. Reports
• Prepare reports as required.
3. General Duties
• To perform any other job-related duties assigned by Team Leader or Manager, inclusive of initiatives assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• 5 CXC/ CSEC passes including Mathematics and English Language.
• 2 A’ Level passes
• LOMA 280, 290, ACS 100 and all related parts
• At least 2years’ experience in an administrative role or similar capacity
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

The Underwriting Assistant – Health Underwriting, must possess strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. He/she must be honest, reliable, dependable and dedicated. The incumbent must be able to multitask and be customer oriented.
