The Tempur Sealy manufacturing site in Kansas City, KS is currently seeking a Mattress Unit Build Assembler. As a Unit Build Assembler, you will work as part of a two-person team to assemble mattress units in a fast-paced production environment. This role involves building a foam frame, placing and securing components, and preparing finished units for staging.
Key Responsibilities:
Assemble foam frames by gluing rigid foam pieces on a worktable
Lift and position encased coil spring mattress assemblies (30–50 lbs.) from the floor, conveyor, or staging area into the foam frame
Apply and secure a foam top using adhesive
Flip the unit and attach a cloth cover, ensuring proper placement and adhesion
Move completed units to storage or staging areas
Maintain consistent productivity, completing approximately 30 units per hour per team
Requirements:
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
Must be at least 18 years of age
Continuous walking and standing (standing at workstation, walking short distances around workstation).
Continuous repetitive use of hands/arms handling component parts and using glue guns.
Frequent grasping of component parts and glue gun.
Frequent pulling/pushing of encases and coil inserts weighing up to 50 pounds.
Frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds (movement of finished encases to staging area, flipping work in process).
Occasional bending to pick up coil units from floor.
Occasional overhead reaching while placing coil units on work table, flipping work in process, and loading glue heater.
Willingness to work in a non-temperature-controlled area, both hot and cold
The noise level in the environment is moderate
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Required overtime weekdays and some Saturdays.
RATE OF PAY: $21.83 per hour
