Updated: Intermediate Consultant - Retrofit Planning & Strategy

Location: Remote (BC preferred; open to other Canadian locations for the right candidate)
Start date: Early 2026
Compensation: Target base salary $70,000–$80,000 (commensurate with experience)

Why this role: You’ll turn data into decisions that cut energy use and GHGs in existing buildings, collaborating across engineering, policy, and program teams in a flexible, work‑from‑home environment.

What you’ll do

  • Own workstreams within market‑transformation and retrofit strategy projects (e.g., literature reviews, data analysis, options screening, and drafting recommendations).
  • Engage stakeholders through interviews, surveys, and small facilitated sessions; synthesize input into clear insights and slides.
  • Translate technical and financial findings into concise, accessible memos, case studies, and reports tailored to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Manage tasks and mini‑projects: create work plans, track progress, manage risks, and keep deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Support development proposals: work with a team to develop high quality proposals.
  • Collaborate day‑to‑day with engineers and policy/strategy staff; escalate issues early and participate in quality reviews.
  • Pitch in where needed across FRESCo projects and services.

What you bring

  • ~4 years of progressive experience in building retrofit planning/strategy, program design, policy analysis, or related consulting.
  • Relevant education (engineering, planning, public policy, economics, building science, or related field).
  • Proven research & writing: you can efficiently turn complex information into crisp, action‑oriented written content.
  • Hands‑on project coordination: schedules, RAID logs, stakeholder lists, and version control are second nature.
  • Working knowledge of building decarbonization/retrofit technologies and public‑sector/utility program levers.
  • Data fluency in Excel (pivoting, lookup formulas, structured templates); comfort with AI tools to accelerate research and drafting is a plus.
  • Adaptability to jump between topics and deliverables in a fast‑moving consulting environment.

Why FRESCo

  • Work from home with flexible hours, a supportive, mission‑driven team, and competitive salary & benefits.
  • We welcome your ideas, initiative, and energy, and we’re an equal‑opportunity employer committed to an inclusive environment.
