What We Want
The Utilities Metering Systems Technician Assistant, under general supervision, assists Utilities Metering Systems Technicians in maintenance and installation of electric and water metering systems. Completes training and development program which will qualify incumbent to progress to a Utilities Metering Systems Technician position.

Pay Range: $15.24- $21.77

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One year of general maintenance experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions in English and communicate effectively.
Will be required to complete training and development for the assistant level within 9 months of hire.
Ability to accept training, direction and constructive feedback and apply to continually improve skill set.
Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Texas Class “C” drivers license or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment and is subject to yearly Motor Vehicle Record/driver license checks.
Responsibilities
Meter Technician- Receives training and assists in maintenance and installation of electric metering devices, and meters that monitor chilled and heating hot water, domestic water, steam, and irrigation metering, installation, and set-up of temperature sensors. This will require driving a university vehicle to different university locations.
Skill Development- Participates in skill development in the utilities metering systems technician trade. This will require the successful completion of the training and development program for the Utilities Metering Systems Technician Assistant.
This may require driving a university vehicle to different university locations.
Housekeeping- Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas.
Other Requirements and Factors:
This position is security sensitive.
This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU regulations and procedures.
Persons in this position are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor.
Works to cover shifts, or take emergency call, on evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
