HDR is looking for a Utility Management Consultant to join our North Carolina Water Business Group. This position may be based out of any of our NC offices\: Charlotte, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Asheville, or Wilmington. As a Utility Management Consultant in our Water Business Group, you’ll be the cornerstone of our project delivery, overseeing and supporting both small-scale single-discipline planning efforts and large, multi-disciplinary design projects. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on managing details, building strong client relationships, and leading talented technical teams.
Key Responsibilities\:
• Serve as a strategic expert with recognized authority in water and wastewater systems and utility operations.
• Provide professional consultation around asset management, operational, and water and wastewater infrastructure challenges.
• Plan, direct, and manage projects to solve water and wastewater utility challenges.
• Plan, organize, and supervise the work of staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
• Serve as Project Manager on projects as needed, including tracking project budgets, monitoring financial performance, and aligning resources to keep deliverables on time and within scope.
• Build and maintain lasting client relationships, taking part in marketing, contract negotiations, and project delivery meetings.
• Lead internal and external meetings, workshops, and technical discussions to align stakeholders and drive progress.
• Perform technical analyses and prepare clear, concise technical reports.
• Mentor and provide leadership to junior staff with a focus on developing strong technical skills in water/wastewater engineering.
• Support firm-wide initiatives and perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in engineering, Business, or Related Field
• Knowledge of ArcGIS, Power BI, and/or SQL Server
• Experience in the A/E/C industry, local candidates are preferred
