VAN DRIVER

Position Title: Van Driver

Department: PACE

Supervisor: Transportation Manager

Hours per week: 35

Pay Range: The expected base pay for the position is $20 -$31 per hour and may be increased based on other factors, such as language, certifications, etc.

Primary Function:

Provide safe, reliable, and courteous transportation for PACE participants between their homes, the Adult Day Health Center, medical appointments, and other approved locations, in accordance with individualized care plans and PACE regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate assigned van or chair car in compliance with traffic laws, safety standards, and Upham’s PACE policies and procedures.
  • Transport participants to and from homes, Upham’s PACE centers, medical appointments, hospitals, clinics, and other approved locations.
  • Assist participants in and out of vehicles, including use of lifts, stair chairs, and physical assistance as required.
  • Ensure all passengers are properly secured prior to transport, including fastening seat belts and securing wheelchairs.
  • Maintain constant communication with base station, including dispatch and PACE centers, during routes.
  • Perform messenger and delivery tasks as assigned, including delivery of medications, medical supplies, equipment, and related items.
  • Report concerns, incidents, delays, accidents, or safety issues promptly and appropriately.
  • Maintain timely and accurate completion of all required logs, including mileage, fuel usage, service records, and other documentation, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine and thorough cleaning of vehicles, including interior and exterior cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal, disinfecting high-touch surfaces, and monitoring and replenishing fluids as required.
  • Assist with coordination of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs as directed.
  • Check in with manager regarding mid-day tasks, which may include participant transports, delivery of medications and medical supplies, assembling or preparing durable medical equipment (DME), vehicle checks, documentation, and other operational support activities
  • Perform dispatch, clerical, delivery, custodial, or support duties during non-driving time as assigned.
  • Wear required uniform and properly display identification at all times.
  • Participate in required trainings, meetings, and competency reviews.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal as needed to ensure safe access to vehicles and facilities.
  • Treat all Upham’s PACE participants, staff, families, and external partners with respect, sensitivity, and professionalism.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
